Great day at NSWIS HQ yesterday for our monthly NSWIS Update! We were thrilled to hear from the inspiring Mali Lovell and her mother, Mel Lovell, who shared Mali’s journey and experiences from the Paris 2024 Paralympics, bringing home a prized bronze medal! 🥉 ✨ Mali’s story left us all motivated and ready to chase our own goals! When asked about narrowly missing out on the Tokyo Paralympics by just 0.1, Mali responded, 'I wasn't really disappointed because I was more motivated to keep going and I knew that I was gonna go to Paris.' Fearless and without hesitation, she already has a champion mindset. 🔥 Australian Institute Of Sport | Paralympics Australia

🎓🏅 Congratulations to the first graduates of the AIS National Gen32 Program! This initiative is shaping the next generation of Olympic, Paralympic, and Commonwealth Games coaches. Among the graduates are six NSWIS coaches: Kate Jenner (hockey), Hally Chapman (rowing), Jackson Holtham & Nicole Parks OLY Parks (snow), Jay Thompson (surfing), and James Greathead (triathlon/swimming). The program, run by the AIS, NSOs, and state sports institutes, gives early-career coaches a two-year paid internship in national programs. Kieren Perkins OAM said, “To have world-class athletes, you need exceptional coaches. Gen32 is helping us build that talent.” #Gen32 #TeamNSWIS | Australian Institute Of Sport

And that’s a wrap for PURSU32+ RAS Talent Program 2024! 💥 The final camp of the PURSU32+ pilot program delivered another incredible experience for regional NSW athletes. The four camps – two were staged at Sydney Olympic Park/NSWIS HQ, one at Jindabyne and another at Tamworth – were packed with excitement, tremendous learning opportunities, growth, and rare insights into the requirements of athletes selected for a High Performance program. A total of 40 emerging athletes were selected from a wide range of sports to participate in the pilot. Besides focussing on physical training, the PURSU32+ pilot program also dealt with the importance of other key requirements for elite athletes: mental resilience, discipline, and dedication. The athletes were immersed in environments that were supported by elite coaches, sports scientists and other industry experts who shared their knowledge and experiences. From specialised workshops to intense training sessions, the tailored program provided a holistic approach to athlete development. As the program wraps up, it’s hoped the athletes leave with knowledge that will help them throughout what are promising careers. #PURSU32 #TeamNSWIS

It was brilliant hosting the Premier, The Hon. Chris Minns, MP at NSWIS HQ yesterday. ✨   Premier Minns received insights into the practices NSWIS staff employ to help make the Institute's scholarship athletes world's best. This included impressive demonstrations highlighting the technical mastery needed to shine on the big stage.   A special moment was our CEO Kevin Thompson introducing the Premier to some NSWIS athletes who returned from the Paris Games with a haul of precious metal - glittering gold and silver medals! 🥇 🥈 Australian Institute Of Sport | Paralympics Australia #TeamNSWIS #Paris2024

🎉 Welcome Home, Aussie Olympians & Paralympians! 🎉   Tumbalong Park was buzzing as NSW Premier Chris Minns kicked off the Welcome Home Ceremony with an uplifting message about the Paris Games' lasting legacy:   “Thanks to our Olympians and Paralympians, a new generation is ready to dive into the pool, hop on their bikes, and hit the field—who knows, maybe they’ll represent Australia one day!”   Many of our NSWIS athletes were front and centre, with Paralympians Mali Lovell, Ameera Lee, and Olympians Zoe Arancini, Dani Jackovich, and more shining bright. 🌟   Zoe’s words of advice “For the kids here, have a go!
