Industry Advocate John Chapman OAM is continuing his journey with SA Businesses this time with SOGECLAIR who put him behind the wheel of a heavy vehicle driving simulator down the South Eastern Freeway from Stirling to the Heysen Tunnels. Fair to say that despite John having a Heavy Combination licence, the monitoring system found there was some need for him to improve attentiveness and discipline in a few key areas! Founded in 1988 as Sydac and acquired by SOGECLAIR in 2018, the Adelaide-based site currently focuses on developing rail and road simulation activities worldwide. Thanks to Sogeclair’s Udi Rajasekara for the opportunity to see this high-tech business in action.

Industry Advocate John Chapman OAM had the opportunity to visit the manufacturing and distribution of South Australian made solar panels at Tindo Solar Tindo Solar owner Glenn Morelli outlined the strict quality control procedures which apply to the specialised process to ensure that the Tindo Solar panels will live up to unrelenting demands of weather in their exposed environments. Tindo Solar claims a quality metric of only 1 panel in 200,000 failing compared with a global average of 1 in every 1,000. The company ships solar panels from its Mawson Lakes factory to all states and territories.

South Australia’s largest and most complex infrastructure project has reached a major milestone with the announcement of the preferred alliance partner. Following an exhaustive procurement process, the consortium, comprising John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia, has been selected as the preferred alliance partner to deliver the River Torrens to Darlington Project. The project will be completed by deadline, but it’s likely South Australians will be able to enjoy the full benefits of the T2D Project even sooner than expected – with three Tunnel Boring Machines to be operating at the same time, instead of the expected two. Once finished, the T2D project will allow motorists to avoid 21 existing sets of traffic lights between the River Torrens and Darlington and will complete the non-stop 78-kilometre North-South Corridor between Gawler and Old Noarlunga. #infrastructure #t2dproject

Industry Advocate John Chapman OAM was given a guided tour of BlueScope’s main South Australian manufacturing and distribution centre at Novar Gardens this week. BluesScope employs 240 people at the location covering everything from sales, design, technical research and state of the art manufacturing of a wide range of steel building products including roofing and decking. Deliveries spread across South Australia every day. The company has a very strong focus on safety of its staff and visitors which is to be commended.
