We never fail to be amazed by our incredible centenarians and the fabulous Patricia, who recently celebrated her 100th birthday, is no exception. Patricia is a resident in Keith Turnbull Place, one of Ozcare’s 4 Gold Coast residential aged care facilities, located just a couple of blocks back from the ocean. Whether it’s that beautiful sea air or the wonderful sense of community keeping Patricia young, we’re just not sure, but we couldn’t be happier to have been able to celebrate this milestone birthday with her. Earlier this year our Toowoomba Aged Care facility had the pleasure of welcoming three new School-Based Trainees. Kiara, from St Ursula’s College (pictured), is our first Aboriginal school-based trainee and has a special story. Kiara’s paternal grandparents are from the Gamilaroi (Nan) and Gunggari (Pop) tribe and her First Nations heritage can be traced back to 1846.  Her large supportive family believes in a good education, working hard and being able to give back to the community. Kiara has chosen to give back to her community by journeying into the healthcare industry. Through Ozcare, Kiara is completing her Certificate III in Individual Support and wants to continue her healthcare career by doing her Diploma in Nursing while at school. Kiara, who is proud to be multi-cultural, says having the support from her family means everything. Kiara acknowledges that the support of her family and Ozcare is helping her to achieve her dream, and we couldn’t be happier to be part of her journey. Keep up the great work Kiara! #schoolbasedtrainee #certIIIindividualsupport #firstnations
