  • In 2021, Presynct were engaged by a private sector mining company six weeks prior to practical completion of their six-floor refurbishment and transition to a new way of working. A change programme had been established in part, but not entirely executed. Our client was looking to actively engage employees to drive awareness, increase preparedness and build excitement and engaged Presynct to design and deliver a robust change programme, building on what was already established to support and enable leaders and employees through the change. The resulting change approach focussed on engaging with all employees to inform, educate and prepare them for the transition, address concerns and support them through the change. • Lisa Copland is the founder and director of Presynct. Her main priority is getting everyone excited about what we do and why it is different. Lisa has always worked in change and fell in love with workplace during a project in Houston, Texas that covered 2.2M sqm in the early 2000’s. In her words, “pre-Presynct has really just been building up to creating Presynct,” whether it was managing SRD consulting or being part of a huge team in Expressworks. Lisa was driven and excited to offer something different and do something she loves every day that offered work flexibility and the chance to work with interesting clients on projects that truly benefit their people. Combining her Bachelor of Science - Psychology (with Honours) and Capital Project Development and Execution Process for Change qualifications means that Lisa is able to deliver projects that also accommodates the psychological nuances of the workplace and its users, thus ensuring a positive journey for all employees involved in these projects. We asked Lisa a couple of questions to help you get to know her better. Here’s what she had to say: Q. What is your favourite part of the strategy / change approach? A. Seeing people develop and watching them execute our process – like seeing Jess run an activity workshop for the first time. Q. If you were a workplace setting, what would you be and why? A. It’s a toss-up between a quiet work room and a booth. I love a two-person quiet work room where you can sit with someone and complete something. I also love sitting in booths, although I need a large screen on the wall as working on my laptop is becoming challenging! Q. What do you like to do with your time outside of work? A. Outside of Presynct, I spend time with my family (my husband and two boys) and try to be as active as possible (walking, running, hiking, skiing and surfing). I love to travel when I can.

  • On Friday 16 August, Shona, Maria, Eva and Elisabeth proudly represented Presynct scooping and serving the iconic EKKA strawberry sundaes for The Common Good. Money raised from these delicious sundaes is used to fund ground breaking research equipment and patient care programs at The Prince Charles Hospital. We're so proud of the hard work of all of the volunteers that helped across the EKKA week. Tell us below, did you get a classic strawberry sundae at the EKKA this year?

  • Strategic insight consultancy firm, Nature, recently published a paper on how hybrid working from home arrangements actually improve retention without damaging performance - findings that contradict many previous studies and misconceptions around working from home and hybrid arrangements. With this fresh insight into the benefits of hybrid working, it is time to focus our attention to ensuring that our workplaces are designed to support such arrangements.    Nature’s study found that with more than 70% of employees globally now working in a hybrid model and from home, it is crucial for organisations to explore how they can design a working environment that supports this. Investigate what your people actually want to come into the office for and what settings and technology support these activities.    Presynct surveyed Queensland employees from a variety of clients, both government and private sector based across a range of services. Over 600 employees told us about their experience working remotely as a result of COVID-19. The survey identified the key motivators for employees to return to the office, notably face to face collaboration and interaction.   The following activities were identified to ideally be completed in the office: • Meetings and collaboration - new team forming, new stakeholders, new customer or people relationships • Innovation - new ideas, processes, ways of thinking and concepts • Collaboration - sharing and interacting with others on a tactile basis • Organisation - divergent ideas and thinking which require the ability to see and sort • Discussion - complex issues explained and contentious issues discussed.   Presynct specialise in creating brilliant workplaces, that support the different styles (and places) that employees work in. Having successfully transitioned organisations across a number of industries, including finance, government, education, law and energy, we are able to adapt to your unique organisational needs and tailor our approach to give your people a workplace that truly supports them.    Are you ready to change your workplace to support a productive hybrid environment? Contact Presynct to start your change journey today.   You can read the full Nature paper, for free, here: https://lnkd.in/eZVC6tiw

New Nature paper on hybrid working from home. Four key findings: 1) Hybrid WFH 2-days a week has no impact on employee or firm performance. No effect on employee grading, promotions, innovation, development, leadership, lines of code or other business metrics. 2) Hybrid WFH reduced quit rates by one third. Given each quit cost the firm about $20,000, this saved millions a year, making hybrid *very profitable*. 3) Quit rate reductions were largest for female employees, non-managers and those with the longest commutes. In industries struggling with gender diversity - like finance and tech - this is another benefit. 4) Managers pre-experiment estimated hybrid would reduce productivity by -2.6%. After the 6-month experiment they updated this to estimating it *increased* productivity by +1%. Managers discovered hybrid works well :-) These results explain why hybrid is profitably used by about 80% of US and European companies (Flex Index). Hopefully, the WFH debate will focus on data and science, rather than outdated lockdown WFH anecdotes.

  • There's no one size fits all when it comes to determining how much office space you need. Taking too much space means the office can feel like a ghost town, leading to limited collaboration opportunities among your people. It also incurs unnecessary costs on rent and fit out. Whereas taking too little space will reduce the ability of employees to access the office when needed. Presynct’s area and capacity modelling helps our clients determine how much area they need for their workplace and optimise a space profile which will support fluctuations in headcount across the life of the lease. To find out the optimal office area that will drive a brilliant workplace, book a consultation with Presynct today: https://lnkd.in/gvwGsmKQ

  • Elisabeth Bailly is part of Presynct’s Workplace Strategy and Change support team. Since May 2022, she has supported a range of client projects across both strategy and change, focusing on tasks such as creating presentations, compiling workshop materials, and assisting with social media. Elisabeth has a breadth of experience across logistics, workplace experience, administration and social media. Combining this with her Associate Degree in Arts and Sciences, Elisabeth brings efficiency and a creative flair for exceptional branded content (for both Presynct and clients alike) to the team. Originally from the US, Elisabeth has been living in Australia for over five years. After witnessing the benefits of workplace change in a previous role, Elisabeth was excited to expand her knowledge about workplace within the Presynct team and create positive change for clients. We asked Elisabeth a couple of questions to help you get to know her better. Here’s what she had to say: Q. What made you choose to come on board with Presynct? A. Presynct had come up based on a connection I had. Maureen was my manager at a previous employer and had moved into a role at Presynct. She suggested me to Lisa (our director) to fill a support role and because I had already experienced a workplace change, I was excited to learn more about Presynct’s process. Q. What is your favourite aspect of the strategy / change approach? A. I really enjoy working on the employee engagement workshops because it’s nice to see and hear people discuss various aspects of their workplaces and what’s important to them. Q. If you were a workplace setting, what would you be and why? A. I think I would be the Co-Create space, because I like that it is a meeting space with the ability to connect and collaborate while also being a creative space for ideas. What do you like to do with your time outside of work? A. Outside of work my partner and I spend a lot of time with the dogs, going to the beach or dog parks. I also love to spend time seeing new places, hiking, and finding good brunch spots with friends. Fun fact: Back in the US, Elisabeth’s roles included working at doggy daycares / boarding kennels and being a dog walker.

Workplace experience is not a new specialty, however in the post-COVID corporate landscape there has been an increased need for workplace strategy and change to simultaneously drive organisational vision and deliver on the desired employee experience and expectations, as informed by deep employee engagement.  Organisations are striving to create workplaces that meet the needs of their people, while still ensuring they are maximising the potential of their office floorplate and reducing unnecessary real estate costs.    The workplace must be designed with the end user in mind, taking into account the activities and requirements that shape employees' day to day working lives. The key to creating brilliant workplaces starts with thorough engagement with all levels of the organisation, a clear vision for what the organisation wants the workplace to drive and ensuring that decisions are based on real and accurate data.    A brilliant workplace must also consider more than just the physical space, taking into account how technology and behaviours will drive the intended occupancy model and enable people to work most effectively in the working environment.   Presynct offers a unique service, combining both workplace strategy and workplace change management to provide a holistic solution for our clients.
