We’re thrilled to announce Proximity has achieved a new growth milestone having joined forces with Systems Planning & Analysis (SPA), a leading global provider of advisory services in support of critical national security objectives. Proximity has always been an ambitious company. Since we were founded in 2011, our team has grown to more than 115 employees working on projects across Government including major Commonwealth public sector agencies. SPA provides analysis and data-driven insights for some of the most complex, sensitive missions in government. For over five decades, SPA has partnered with clients across the defence, intelligence, and homeland security portfolios to help inform national security decisions. SPA employs more than 2200 people worldwide with 15 office locations across the US, UK and Australia. For now, we’re known as Proximity an SPA Company. Our CEO, Zoe Lynam OLY, will take the helm as Managing Director, leading the combined team of 130+ employees across Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide. She said: “SPA is a natural fit given our shared commitment to integrity and client service as well as SPA’s deep defence and technology expertise. We look forward to a bright future with a global company of SPA’s calibre.” SPA CEO Rich Sawchak said: “Proximity is a sought after and highly respected multidisciplinary government consultancy with an impressive client base. This acquisition reinforces our commitment to Australia and presents an opportunity to further build on our global success.” This next chapter with SPA is exciting for employees as it broadens opportunities for professional growth. In this article on PASA, Special Advisor Su-Ann Tan Burke discusses the role procurement plays when it comes to ensuring supply chain cyber security. She breaks down four key steps that procurement advisors, contract lawyers and contract/business managers should be aware of in implementing supply chain cyber security, liaising with technical security advisors if needed. 1. Security by design - Procurement planning, market research and approach to market (ATM) preparation should incorporate clear security requirements. 2. Embedding security when releasing requirements to market - Evaluating the sensitivity of information to be released to tenderers and considering access controls. 3. Identifying the preferred supplier with risks in mind - Considering the overall benefits offered by a supplier against the risks that the supplier poses to an entity. Evaluation of tenders should include predefined security criteria. 4. Contract management and closure - Actively monitor supplier performance and security compliance and foster cooperative discussions around threats and responsive disclosures of breaches. As the contract nears its expiry, complete closure and offboarding activities such as return of physical access passes, cancelling systems access and deletion or destruction of information held by the supplier Read her full article below.
