Resilient infrastructure serves communities and supports economies. This is why we're proud that, together with Aurecon and Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd, we have been awarded the Resilient Australia Business Award (Queensland Division) from the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience. This recognises the Australian-first resilience assessment at Port of Brisbane using the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR)'s Principles for Resilient Infrastructure Scorecard. The assessment provides QIC and our portfolio company, Port of Brisbane, with a deeper understanding of the many dimensions of disaster risk: hazards, exposures, vulnerabilities, capacities. Managing this risk requires coordinated resilience planning. "Infrastructure resilience calls for collaboration right across the #infrastructure system, including governments, operators and owners. "In many cases, vulnerability is not within the company’s control; instead, this may sit in the access, utilities and broader infrastructure systems, which reinforces why collaboration and engagement is so critical" said Andrew Sellick, QIC Senior Principal – Sustainability, Infrastructure.

Derivatives are commonly used to hedge FX exposures as well as providing tail #hedging with options, flexible asset allocation implementation through futures, and leveraging swaps to replicate traditional investments. QIC #Infrastructure unlocks investor value at CenTrio through a systems thinking approach. This means that in a single city, CenTrio's plants, distribution network, and customer connections work together to create a network that's more fortified and resilient than those pieces alone. The CenTrio team embraces this approach to improve #resource economy, create new innovations and plan for the future. Some of their #sustainable solutions include ice batteries, river water systems, and waste heat recovery to provide resilient heating and cooling to a diverse network of customers. In a drought, you don’t often think about flood insurance. Similarly, during periods of minimal or decelerating #inflation, inflation hedging may not be top of mind for some investors. But what happens if the tide turns again? Without a single inflation hedge, it’s complex and could call for a range of instruments and strategies which when combined may provide some protection against inflation.
