BusSAFE, an industry-led, school bus safety education program, was launched today at the National Bus and Coach Show, Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. BusSAFE teaches students a range of road-side and on-board safety and emergency strategies across schools in SA, TAS and QLD, for years Foundation to 9. "Ensuring safety is a key part of our shared mission in the bus industry" said Craig Spurr, Bus SA Executive Director. BusSAFE gratefully acknowledges assistance from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator. NHVR CEO Sal Petroccitto OAM said the NHVR is pleased to support the BusSAFE program. “Funded by the NHVR’s Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative (HVSI), this bus safety education program demonstrates industry’s commitment to child, passenger and driver safety at community level,” Mr Petroccitto said. “BusSAFE aims to change behaviour, educating children – our most vulnerable road users – on how they can keep themselves and others safe.” BusSAFE is poised for further national expansion beyond the trial phase.
