We were honoured to have Professor Helen Bartlett, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of the Sunshine Coast, share her perspectives at the QLD Policy Leaders' Forum on Investing in Regional Queensland. Her expertise in the role of universities in regional development was both insightful and inspiring. Some of her insights included: 💡 Universities as Economic Drivers ↔️ Prof Bartlett highlighted the critical role that universities play in regional development, not only by contributing to local GDP but also by retaining graduates within the community—with 70% of graduates choosing to stay and work locally. 💡 Educational Access and Equity ↔️ She underscored the challenges faced by underrepresented groups in accessing higher education, such as students from low socioeconomic backgrounds and regional areas. Universities have a pivotal role in helping overcome these barriers. 💡 Successful Collaboration Models ↔️ Prof Bartlett emphasised the importance of collaboration between universities and industry, highlighting how the University of the Sunshine Coast's Moreton Bay Campus works closely with local industries and government. This partnership aims to drive economic development, foster innovation, and ensure alignment in planning and advocacy efforts. Discover more about the essential contributions of universities to regional Queensland and the collaborative efforts driving future growth. 📥 You can download the full report and see the event replay here: https://bit.ly/4eqIpLi #QLDFutures #RegionalQLD #QLDRegions #QldJobs #RegionalQueensland #HigherEducation #QLDPol #AusPol #publicPolicy #Queensland #EconomicDevelopment

In the lead up to next week's Leading Cyber Security Forum, Bruce Irwin told Newsreel that we are now seeing "deep fake" people requesting and organising video meetings. AI also means that phishing emails will become more professional. All this comes as organisations are bracing for deeper cybersecurity regulation. We are looking forward to welcoming members and guests to this important event next week! #Cybersecurity #QldPol #Queensland #PublicPolicy #AI #ArtificialIntelligence
