Learning, sharing ideas and frank discussions with a dose of fun, were the order of the morning at weWALK Toowoomba. The diverse group represented council staff, community groups, not for profits, health and well-being, carers and people with disabilities, bicycle users, climate activists, universities, young people and new parents. Toowoomba Region show-cased how the community and council are committed to working together to improve the liveability of the region with more walkable communities for everyone. There is still much work to be done, however collaborative work towards inclusive, walkable communities is well underway. Do you like the idea of being involved, please do a quick checklist of your own street to begin your journey. https://lnkd.in/gMqEFVtY Together - weWALK #toowoombaregion #heartfoundation #eastcreekcommunitycentre #bugtoowoomba #climate #cancerfoundation Photo credit: Jenny Holbut

The emphasis was on connecting residents, public transport and amenities with safe pathways and crossings. On our first day of Queensland Walks Month we stepped out to celebrate walking, rolling and strolling. Of course! We're also celebrating where the Queensland Walks 'magic' happens, at our new office at Sports House at Suncorp Stadium - Department of Tourism and Sport & Recreation. Our office is right near Milton train station, a walk from Roma Street, and close by to the river walk along Bicentennial walking and bike paths, and the Victoria Park and Roma Street Parkland shared paths. Are we excited about 50c fares launching across Queensland during Queensland Walks Month? You betcha! Couldn't be better timing to walk to public transport! Department of Transport and Main Roads Greg Vann - President, QLD Walks Anna Campbell - Executive Officer, QLD Walks Fiona Coppin - Business Development , QLD Walks Anetta Van Itallie - 10,000 Steps and QLD Walk Board Member #QLDWalksMonth #WeWalkQLD #QLDWalks #Walkrunrollstroll #50cfaresqld
