The public comment period is now open for Commonwealth approvals documentation for the #Borumba Project’s exploratory works. ✍ This step is a requirement undertaken at the direction, and with the oversight, of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW). You have until midday Monday 10 March 2025 to make your submission. Once completed, the Minister for the Environment and Water will then decide on whether to approve the Project, including any conditions of approval. So, what do exploratory works involve? 🤔 Exploratory works are critical to understanding the geotechnical conditions and characteristics of Queensland Hydro's Borumba Project site, building on knowledge we’ve gathered throughout the investigations stage. 🔍👀 For more info, check out the full video with Natasha Patterson, Executive General Manager, Communities and Environment on our website here: https://lnkd.in/g78-tcdW 💧#QldHydro

Get to know a more about exploratory works and what’s involved for our #Borumba Project! Like all major infrastructure projects, we must go through several phases before the project can be given the go ahead by regulators. 🚦✅ Exploratory works help Queensland Hydro prepare our Borumba Project site for future main works, and include: 🔎 Surface geotechnical investigations 👷 A range of supporting works, including temporary workers’ accommodation camps, minor road improvements, vehicle washdown facilities, material compounds and temporary bridges 🕳️ Excavation of tunnels to reach the location of the proposed underground cavern. Queensland Hydro is currently seeking regulatory approval for exploratory works from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) via preliminary documentation under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1991 (EPBC Act). We’re also working with state and local governments on other regulatory approvals required under relevant legislation. Find out more on our website here: https://lnkd.in/g78-tcdW 💧 #QldHydro

The public comment period is open from today until midday on Monday 10 March 2025. 🗓️ The Commonwealth Government assessment process of the exploratory works for the Borumba Project is via preliminary documentation under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). We know that our proposed Project is ultimately better off when we have input from our neighbours and local communities. The comment period allows you to review our draft preliminary documentation and submit comments. GP services are returning to Imbil! 👏🩺👩⚕️ Delivered in partnership with CCQ - Country to Coast QLD, the new Imbil Medical Centre will open on Thursday 27 February 2025. The GP service arrangement is part of Queensland Hydro's Community Benefits Program, which was announced last year after consultation with the local community. The re-establishment of GP services was one of the early initiatives announced. This is a fantastic outcome for residents in Imbil and the Mary Valley who have been without a local GP for about two years. The new Imbil Medical Centre is owned and operated by local GPs who also run Southside Medical and Channon Street Medical Centres in Gympie, ensuring continuity of care for many existing patients. 🏥 Read more on our website here: https://bit.ly/3Esm6bk 💧 #QldHydro #Borumba
