Congratulations Timothy Wiley and our #RedbackBots student team on the #RoboCup2024 podium finish!
3rd place for #CIAIRI #RedbackBots in the Challenger Shield (Division 2) of #RoboCup2024 Soccer SPL! In our second year of competition, we are thrilled to have placed on the podium in our division. Our final double-elimination knockout game against R2-ZweiKickers was a 1-3 loss. After two previous meetings, our team put in place some behaviour changes, but couldn't quite pull off the win on the day. We were also quite proud to make our Augment Reality system available to all teams for testing during the finals day matches. Our system has also been featured on the AI Hub (https://lnkd.in/gaGN9HFN)! Our student have put in an amazing effort and close to 12 months of dedicated effort for this year's competition, for which they should be very proud. This includes both our travelling team, and our home team. They have been amazing representatives of RMIT University and are making a positive name for us in the robotics community. Our 2024 student team: Rithvik Abothu, Syed Ali, Jasper Avice Demay, Chaitanya Bhide, Hirday Bajaj, Hin Yeung Samuel Chan, Tom Ellis, Mark Field, Max Foord, Roohollah Ganji, Sam Griffiths, Darian George, Christopher Lamb, Prawal Lohani, Luke Mullan, Murray Owens, Jed Pauckner, Rafael Perez, Mark Putter, Arturo Rodriguez, Vansh Shah, Joel Stephens, and James Thom. #robotics #CIAIRI RMIT School of Computing Technologies

Congratulations to RMIT School of Computing Technologies researchers Tabinda Sarwar and Lawrence Cavedon on their successful collaboration with Telstra Health through the Digital Health CRC and for winning this award!
Congratulations to the team behind Australia’s first electronic screening and risk prediction tool for deterioration in aged care residents, winner of Cooperative Research Australia’s Impact Award. The RMIT, Telstra Health and Digital Health Cooperative Research Centre tool detects deterioration in frail aged care residents, marking the introduction of clinical decision support software to predict deterioration – already used in acute care settings – into aged care. It has the capacity to automatically monitor both structured and free-text electronic patient records for 36 evidence-based indicators of deterioration, making it the most reliable tool of its kind developed to date. As well as providing aged care staff with a frailty index for each resident, the system can also identify specific alerts for their risk of falls, depression and mortality. Data scientist and RMIT project lead Dr Tabinda Sarwar said collaboration with project partners and nursing staff was key to success. “It was only through this collaboration that we could gain the valuable insights to ensure our solutions were practical, effective, and tailored to real-world needs,” she said. Telstra Health’s Chief Health Officer, Dr Monica Trujillo, said the innovation could substantially improve monitoring for aged care residents without putting any extra burden on nursing staff. “This type of innovation, which has been standard practice for so long in hospital settings, is long overdue in the residential aged care sector and has enormous potential to uplift the safety and quality of care provided to residents,” she said. Read: https://lnkd.in/gzPkwaGs Integration of the new algorithms into Telstra Health’s Clinical and Care Management software is now being planned.
