Two Machines, One RME Team 👇 RME Customer Service Technicians recently completed a full-scale RME Rebuild Major Service on two RUSSELL Liner Exchange Machines (aged 13 and 21 years!) that had been sitting idle for some time while the site had been in care and maintenance. Revitalising these machines and giving them a new lease on life is incredibly rewarding. It not only benefits mine sites by lowering their total cost of ownership (TCO) over longer asset lifespans, but it's also a more sustainable maintenance practice that minimises raw material consumption associated with new replacements. RME's Major Rebuild Service is a comprehensive program, including: • Approximately 400 tests and inspections • Reconditioning or replacement of around 4,500 parts To ensure the longevity and safe operating performance of your equipment, RME supports Customers with highly-informed through-life asset integrity maintenance services. We can also custom-manufacture machine covers to protect equipment from the harsh mining environment between relines. Then, when your equipment reaches the end of its useful life, RME offers a customised asset disposal service that prioritises recycling, repurposing, or responsible waste management to minimise environmental impact. I'm incredibly proud to have been part of the rebuild team for these RUSSELL Liner Exchange Machines. This particular site had been in care and maintenance until recently, when a new operator took over to revitalise the plant. On-site was a 1,500 kg capacity RUSSELL 7 Mill Relining Machine #211 (built in 2011), and a 1000 kg capacity RUSSELL 3 Mill Liner Handler #65 (built in 2003). Instead of replacing them, we worked closely with the new operator to restore these machines and give them a second life. This wasn't a straightforward task, as neither machine had undergone a major service previously. They presented asset integrity and functional challenges, and lacked many of the modern safety and performance upgrades found in newer models. So, we successfully rebuilt these machines from the ground up! Every bolt, contact block, switch, button, valve, cylinder and hydraulic hose was replaced. Our scope also included a complete sandblast and repaint. These machines are now operating as good as the day left RME’s manufacturing facility 13 and 21 years ago (if not better). We were also able to complete our service delivery ahead of schedule. Site was impressed by our ability to take ownership of the project and deliver a successful outcome. Thank you to our Customer for hosting us and trusting our service team. #WeAreRME
