Meet Fiona Benson: Conference & Event Planner Let's get to know her better: Q: How long have you been working at the resort? A: I have just reached my 13 year work anniversary with the resort! Q: What is your favorite thing about your role? A: I love helping clients create events with custom elements and seeing it all come together. Working alongside the team here at the Resort is another highlight. Q: What's your top recommendation for visitors to the Hunter Valley region? A: The Hunter Valley in Autumn is probably my favorite season! If you have a sweet tooth, a visit to Sabour Dessert Bar is a must. The views from the Cellar Door Audrey Wilkinson are amazing, and if you're looking for a nice spot for lunch, Baume at Ben Ean is always a good choice. Q: What's the most unique or challenging event you've helped organise at Rydges Hunter Valley? A: One of the most unique events I am lucky enough to work on is an annual event for a large supermarket chain. They always go above and beyond with their event entertainment, theming and custom menus by bringing onboard a celebrity Chef. This event is always a lot of fun and rewarding to see the end result! Secondly would have to be an event I coordinated for large motor company. This event was a Hotel-Buyout and it was the largest event I have worked on in my career. They had so many bespoke elements, which spanned over their week-long event, including a glass marquee structure which was installed on one of the Hotel Lawns and a drive event with 150 brand new vehicles onsite. Their event opening event took place on the roads within the resort, showing stunt vehicles and stilt marching bands. This was definitely one to remember! Both of these events really utilise and showcase the many diverse options and unique event spaces we have to offer here at Rydges Resort Hunter Valley! Fun fact: When she's not busy planning amazing events, Fiona is a proud local, an avid book lover, and "momager" to her family (and the team)!
