  • Driving Towards Zero Emissions! 🚙 We’re excited to introduce two fully electric vehicles to Council's fleet, marking a significant milestone in our commitment to sustainability. These are the first fully electric vehicles to join Council's motor pool, complementing several other sustainable additions including plug-in hybrid passenger vehicles and two hybrid trucks. The introduction of battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles represents the second phase of Council’s transition to a greener fleet following the widespread conversion to hybrid passenger vehicles over recent years. Improving the environmental performance of our fleet aligns with Council’s operational goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2035. Together, let’s drive towards a cleaner, more sustainable future! 🌍💚

  • 🛟 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 🌊 Yesterday, lifeguards at Warilla Central Beach responded to two kiteboarders in distress off the northern end of the beach, a popular spot for the activity. One kiteboarder, stranded furthest offshore, had tangled his lines, while the other lost his board and was swimming toward shore. 💨🪁 Lifeguards Byron Vinkovic and Sean Ritter quickly launched the jet ski, retrieving the kiteboarder and his equipment, while the second kiteboarder made it back to shore safely on his own. We want to thank Byron and Sean for their swift and heroic actions and remind everyone to check surf conditions before entering the water. Always follow beach signage and remember—if you're ever in trouble, put your hand up for help and our trusty lifeguards will be there in no time! 🙋♂️ Well done, Byron and Sean! 👏 📸 (L-R) Byron Vinkovic and Sean Ritter.
