About us
Finding out that your child has been picked on is one of the most gut wrenching feelings a parent can experience. If you find out your child is being bullied, apart from wanting to tell the school or confront the bully, until now, there really hasn't been much you could do about it. You can’t go on the school bus with the...the teachers aren’t always present to witness the events and don't’ get me started on social media where bullying happens in group chats, Dm’s, private accounts accessible 24/7. When has your child ever taken a class on how to deal with insults, how to apologise, how to compliment, or how to deal with rumours and gossip? For most of us, it’s a sad truth: No one has systematically trained us to speak effectively under pressure. Research has shown that the most common form of abuse in our culture is not physical, but rather verbal abuse (Bowen and Holcom, 2010; Cross et al., 2009; Rigby and Johnson, 2016; Wong et al., 2008). Social Kung Fu offers a new generation of verbal training that works when people are under pressure. It provides a set of techniques and principles that aim to equip youth with personal protection, improve their self esteem and become better communicators in their schools, workplaces and homes. We’ve all heard the phrase “if you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime”. The reality is that as a parent you can’t defend your child against bullies. Rather than depending on the school to stop the bullying, or taking your kid out of school all together which mind you many parents resort to when bullying gets bad, Social Kung Fu is all about teaching your child how to “fish”, or rather, how to defend themself in any situation of conflict for the rest of their life. Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is doing a national campaign focusing on youth mental health and chose to profile our work with Social Kung Fu Today we spoke to hundreds of students about verbal self defense and resilience. Our program will be fully evidence based backed by University of Sydney and will be published for peer review in a matter of weeks. Oue vision and goal is to bully proof Australian schools and families with evidence based tools and techniques. Segment will be rolled out within the next few weeks nation

This has been a year of building and momentum for Social Kung Fu. We’ve travelled lots of Australia and trained 1000’s of young people with verbal self defense and confidence. We’re in full swing in our research with the University of Sydney and building an app and platform that will be launched next year that I believe could change the world. At the end of the day, our heart is to protect young people. They are so valuable. We want to be role models to them, and give them the tools to stand up for themselves and live their dreams. The mission is clear, 1 million students to be trained with social kung fu. We have a parent course coming out in the new year to bully proof their families. Small thinking kills big dreams. Dream bigger.

Gossip has to be in the top 3 most toxic behaviours that have taken students out mentally and socially…and it’s simple to point this out but it’s WORD, not punches. @socialkungfu is Australia’s and possibly the worlds verbal self defense training for families and students and our training is being currently researched by The University Of Sydney, meaning it’ll be evidence based by next year.
