This one's for all our fellow #gearheads ⚙ out there. We are excited to see the launch of UNSW Redback Racing's first-ever hybrid, the Formula SAE vehicle, RB-24. Check it! 🤩 The RB-24 is not just an incredible looking, finely tuned machine; it also marks Kalindu Dahanayake and the team's first electric-autonomous vehicle. Over the past 25 years, Redback Racing has seen students from across UNSW Engineering take their theoretical knowledge in engineering design and analysis and apply it to the real world in the Society of Automotive Engineers - Australasia's annual competition. The Formula SAE-Australasia Competition sees uni students from across Asia-Pacific compete to design, build, and race a single-seater formula-style car ⚡🚘 . Teams are challenged to develop a vehicle that performs well in various categories, such as engineering design, endurance, and fuel efficiency, while adhering to standardised rules. Our partners at UNSW Engineering have just announced their latest offering: the Sunswift 8, Australia's first hydrogen-powered sports car!🚗🏁🎉🍾 Sunswift Racing, the team behind the Sunswift 7, the winner of last year's Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, has set a monumental goal for the upcoming year. Their ambitious aim is to drive from Sydney to Bathurst, complete a lap at Mount Panorama in under 2 minutes and 30 seconds, and then return to Sydney to demonstrate the capabilities of the new hydrogen-powered Sunswift 8. In 1974, the year their son Julius Sorensen was born, they started a new business with the desire to shake things up in the engineering world.
