About us
Imagine Space Protocol as the Bitcoin for Space Safety and Sustainability. Our blocks record conjunctions, helping satellites avoid collisions. We integrate various sources of information, generate consensus over a blockchain, and produce tracking and conjunction information that can be publicly accessed and verified in a trustless manner.

Space Protocol's team recently showcased its innovations at the US Space Systems Command's SDA TAP Lab in Colorado Springs during Cohort 5 Demo Day. As we transition into Cohort 6, we're excited to continue our work on three critical areas that align with our long-term vision for space security and sustainability: 1. Precision Tracking: We're developing advanced sensor calibration techniques to enhance the accuracy of tracking space objects, from #LEO to deep space environments. 2. Trusted Workflows: Our focus is on creating traceable data chains that ensure accountability from the decision to action, crucial for complex multi-actor missions. 3. Congestion Analysis: We're pioneering tools for proactive capacity modeling and separation strategies to manage increasing space traffic. What if every system decision left a clear trail to help humans understand? Modern multi-party complex systems involve intricate processes, dependencies, and failure points that create unpredictable outcomes. #Traceability solves this by mapping data flows, processes, and decisions to enables capabilities like confidence scoring, real-time analytics, and failure prevention, it transforms uncertainty into clarity and control. We are building this tool by taking inspirations from MITRE and NIST's IR 8536 framework—to address #DataToDecisions problem of the SDA TAP Lab and was showcased on cohort 5 demo day. https://lnkd.in/dEcZff4h We extend our gratitude to Harvey Reed for multiple discussions to help understand the aforementioned framework, Major Sean Allen, Chief of the SDA TAP Lab for the opportunity, Anthony Mayo, Bo Wen from PNNL among others who are helping to make the complex system traceable.

Relatively unoccupied orbits – a threat or a boon? As Earth's orbital space becomes increasingly crowded, understanding unique orbits is more critical than ever. Our orbital distance computation algorithm helps identify distinct orbits, enabling better collision avoidance, optimized satellite positioning, and enhanced security. Beyond operational efficiency, this approach supports threat detection and strategic orbit selection for sensitive missions, mitigating risks from adversarial activities. Looking ahead, uniqueness-based identification could lay the foundation for automated space traffic corridors, orbital service zones, and even future space real estate. Shifting from reactive collision avoidance to proactive orbital management is key to securing a sustainable and strategically viable space future. Our orbital uniqueness determination tool was developed and implemented to address #Problem16 of the SDA TAP Lab and was showcased on #cohort 5 #demo day, specifically focusing on identifying objects in sparsely populated orbital regions. We extend our gratitude to Major Sean Allen, Chief of the SDA TAP Lab, and Pace Balster of Katalyst Space Technologies. Accurate space sensor calibration is crucial for ensuring high-quality data, enabling precise measurements and reliable insights for #SDA. Space Protocol’s AI-powered data-driven heterogeneous sensor calibration solution integrates optical, radio, passive RF, space-based, and ground-based sensors resulting in 53.3% + enhancement in accuracy even when #calibration satellites (ILRS or GNSS) satellites are NOT in sight. We are looking forward to further enhancing this capability as part of SDA TAP Lab Cohort 5.
#Congratulations to Space Protocol for being the twelfth winner from Apollo #Accelerator Cohort 4! From the period of 6 August through 29 October 2024, this team successfully demonstrated a dynamic sensor calibration technique that can produce astrometric sigma/bias corrections from a combination of sources beyond traditional ILRS and GNSS orbits. This enables on-the-fly, and more frequent, calibration #space Excellent work!! #innovation #partnertowin

Uncorrelated track processing (#UCT) is pivotal in Space Domain Awareness (#SDA) as it enables the accurate identification and tracking of objects in orbit without prior data association, enhancing our ability to monitor space traffic and mitigate collision risks. Global sensor #calibration is crucial in this context, ensuring that data from diverse heterogeneous sensors are harmonized for precise track correlation and analysis, enhancing #UCT processing. At Space Protocol, we addressed these challenges as part of the SDA TAP Lab Cohort 4. We developed solutions that improve sensor calibration techniques and advance uncorrelated track processing capabilities to enhance overall space situational awareness along with amazing cohort members Alex Nelson from Rhea Space Activity, Drew Latta from LSAS Tec, and Bernhard Niedermayer from iSEE - Impact Space Expedition and Exploration. Follow us for further details and for our upcoming paper and open-source software on "Distributed Dynamic Heterogeneous SDA Sensor Calibration". Thanks to Major Sean Allen for your insightful comments and feedback. We're looking forward to working together in Cohort 5! Here is the pitch video from Cohort 4 demo day by our CTO Yasir Latif
