Sport Integrity Australia is the government entity providing support to sports on all integrity matters.

About us

Sport Integrity Australia is the Australian Government’s response to the findings of the Review of Australia’s Sports Integrity Arrangements (Wood Review). The Review looked at what we do now, where our weaknesses are and what we need to change to protect the 14 million Australians who take part in sport annually. Sport Integrity Australia is working with sports, the sports-wagering industry, and state and territory regulators to provide clearer, more transparent, and consistent sports wagering regulation to, ultimately, protect Australian sport from sports wagering related threats. We combat illegal activities such as match-fixing by using coordinated response. We work with governments, sports, regulators, wagering service providers and law enforcement agencies. By developing national policies, resources and education we are safeguarding sport in Australia. As Australia’s national anti-doping organisation we are responsible for implementing an effective program consistent with international requirements and Australian legislation.

There's some exciting new projects on the horizon at Swimming Australia. We sat down with two dedicated members of the team recently who are working hard to ensure everyone feels safe and protected in and out of the pool. Lydia Dowse (National Integrity Manager) and Scott Elliott (Complaints and Compliance Manager) are two dedicated Swimming Australia team members who look after integrity, complaints and compliance. They support and enable clubs, coaches and key stakeholders to understand their role in making sport safe. Their focus is on continual improvement in integrity and governance. In an innovative approach, Swimming Australia has named November National Integrity Month and will leverage the acronym FISH to educate the wider swimming community the values of Fairness, Integrity, Safety and Happiness. A wonderful initiative in the west focussed on safeguarding children and young people in sport.

Children’s Week is a time to reflect on the vital role sport plays in the lives of WA’s children and young people. Sport brings children enjoyment, helps build their confidence and make lasting friendships. Ensuring their safety is a collective effort – from passionate administrators to dedicated volunteers. Through our ongoing collaboration with Sport Integrity Australia and SportWest, we're helping WA sports organisations embed child safeguarding practices. SportWest’s TrueSport Child Safeguarding initiative is a great example of this collaboration in action, providing resources and guidance to create a safe sporting environment for children. Our collaborative work also further strengthens the efforts to implement the 10 National Principles for Child Safe Organisations in line with the National Integrity Framework. Check out the valuable resources and learn more about creating a Child Safety Statement of Commitment on the TrueSport website 💻 https://ow.ly/PYnM50TRrpy Read more on the #DLGSC website https://lnkd.in/dVeWhShE #TrueSport #ChildrensWeek2024 #ConnectedCommunites #HealthyLiving #Collaboration

This Children's Week theme is 'Children have the right to a clean and safe environment', this includes the right to good quality health care, clean water, nutritious food and a clean environment. At Sport Integrity Australia we're all about a food first approach and eating healthy whole foods to give you the best nutritional boost, particularly when playing sport. We had a chat with some children and young people this week about what their favourite snack is when playing or recovering from sport. Check out what they had to say 🎧 #ProtectingSportTogether #ChildrensWeek

National Children’s Week this week is a good reminder about the role parents and coaches play in shaping happy athletes who enjoy the game they play, and are mentored in an environment that promote safe, fun, clean and fair play. Fifteen-year-old upcoming skier Toby McIlwaine shared his insights on the importance of positive parenting for young athletes, crediting his achievements in sport to the encouragement he receives from his parents and coaches. “They’ve been so helpful and such a huge part of my sport; I definitely wouldn’t be where I am without them.” Safeguarding children and young people in sport is crucial not only for their safety and protection but also for their physical and mental well-being. We've got heaps of great advice for parents on the resources page of our website.
