Learning to dream is an important building block for creating the life you want…for young people, dreaming of their own future helps protect against exploitation. The Schools-Based Group Work of our Young Women’s Program intentionally encourages dreaming - to help healthy identity development and create meaningful boundaries that allows young people to step into lives of choice. ♥️ #belongconnectrespect #youreworthit #traumainformed #schoolwellbeing

Belong, Connect, Respect - more than just a motto, this is how our Drop In Centre team work every day…and those who come feel it. Our recent annual survey tells us that we are creating safe spaces for people to get the support they need without judgement. Thank-you to our amazing team ♥️. #belongconnectrespect #communitycares #traumainformed #safety

Telling the story of St Kilda Gatehouse… Thanks to Rathbone Films who came out to help put our story to pictures. We can’t wait to share this with our supporters! #belongconnectrespect #storytelling #communitycares

Approximately 60% of the women we support through our Drop In Centre are experiencing some form of homelessness. Thanks so much to StreetSmart Australia for supporting our serving of our community’s most vulnerable: offering spaces of safety and dignity. When sleeping rough where do you safely rest, or shower, or wash your clothes? Thanks to our supporters, the St Kilda Gatehouse Drop In Centre is here for those who come… #BelongConnectRespect #traumainformed #homelessness

Today we farewell our awesome Chisholm Institute Certificate 4 Youth Work student, Caitlin, who’s been learning from our amazing Young Women’s Program team. To send her on her way, we surrounded her with the affirmations we share with all of the young people we serve. Good luck Caitlin! #belongconnectrespect #traumainformed #studentplacement

Our team is our most valuable asset, so we gathered their wisdom to learn more about how St Kilda Gatehouse is travelling as an organisation…here is some of what they told us… #BelongConnectRespect #collectedwisdom #staffsurvey

Thanks to our community of supporters who help create this special place where precious work happens. (And thanks to our generous drinks sponsor NON for adding a touch of class to our glasses!)
What an absolute delight to connect with some of the wonderful friends of St Kilda Gatehouse! Sharing stories of unhurried kindness and building compassionate communities is a great way to find calm on a wild, windy night…. And our Greeves Street Op Shop was the perfect location. #BelongConnectRespect #traumainformed #communitycares #socialenterprise

Overdose costs us all too much - lives and loves. We at @stkildagatehouse believe that together we can: across our programs we are coming together for training in overdose response. This is one way we create safe spaces. #BelongConnectRespect #overdoseawarenessday #communitycares @greevesstopshop

Charli had always felt “small”…so sometimes people took advantage of her. When her Young Women’s Program worker suggested Equine Interaction, Charli was pretty nervous. Stepping out of the car that day, Charli’s heart skipped a beat as she came eye to eye with this glorious horse: so beautiful! Over the following hour, Charli learned to brush and walk her new friend - she suddenly didn’t feel so small. Thanks Vicky Macdermid for your work alongside our YWP team, this is such special work. #belongconnectrespect #equineinteraction #traumainformed #emotionalregulation #youreworthit

Our Young Women’s Program disrupts sexual exploitation. We share in this work with colleagues at DFFH and in case management services. Opportunities to connect and collaborate happen when we gather together. #BelongConnectRespect
Great to join with others working in this difficult space: a moment to reflect on factors that drive sexual exploitation and the all-important current best practice responses. Thanks to the organisers for bringing us all together. (Churchill was a long drive, but the forum was worth it!) #endCSE #traumainformed
