Have you spotted Sugar Australia’s retail brand CSR Sugar’s new campaign on your TV screens, TikTok or billboards around town? The campaign, titled ‘Tender Loving CSR’, was inspired by our very own people. It all started when the team from The Works, part of Capgemini, who created the campaign for us, headed up to Mackay to get a feel for what really goes into making Australia’s #1 sugar. After chatting with our dedicated team, it soon became clear that there was a lot of love poured into every stage of the sugar making process, with one farmer summing it up perfectly: “It takes sunshine, water and a whole lot of TLC.” And with that, the campaign was born. We even filmed one of the ads at our Racecourse refinery featuring our very own team. Check out the exclusive behind-the-scenes photos below. To watch the campaign, go to: https://lnkd.in/gACQ25cj.

🚢 Exciting milestone for Sugar Australia: the Pioneer’s first voyage to Perth! 🌟 After a year of meticulous planning, our custom sugar freight ship, the Pioneer, has successfully completed its inaugural journey to Fremantle, marking a significant step in optimising our supply chain between the east coast and Western Australia. The journey: On August 17, the Pioneer set sail from Mackay, navigating the stunning waters of Northern Queensland. A brief stop near Cairns allowed us to onboard a reef pilot, ensuring safe passage through the Great Barrier Reef —thanks to their vital local knowledge. After two weeks at sea, the Pioneer arrived at Fremantle on September 4, greeted by challenging weather conditions, including rain and hail. Yet, the curiosity of the port staff and stevedores showcased the excitement surrounding this bespoke vessel. Overcoming challenges: Despite the tough weather, our dedicated team worked tirelessly to offload sugar efficiently, learning valuable lessons about our operational processes at Fremantle. As Scott Donelly, Depot Manager QLD, NSW & WA, noted, “The resilience of the team to find solutions in adverse conditions was remarkable.” Looking ahead: This journey not only strengthens our supply chain but also fosters collaboration with the Fremantle stevedore crew, paving the way for smoother operations in the future. A huge thank you to our incredible team members, whose commitment to safety and quality made this achievement possible. Together, we’re refining our approach for future voyages, ensuring faster, more efficient sugar supply to our west coast partners. Stay tuned for more updates on our Pioneer to Perth adventure! 🚀 #SupplyChain #Innovation #Teamwork #SugarAustralia #Logistics #PioneerVoyage

Sugar Australia was pleased to host the Queensland Committee of AME Australia at our Racecourse Refinery in Mackay this month. AME (Association for Manufacturing Excellence) is a networking association that facilitates connections, collaboration and learning in the operational excellence space. The team at our Racecourse Refinery have been on an operational journey for the last two years which has resulted in implementing new software, optimising the site’s organisation and supporting better communication. On the tour, led by our Technical & Process Improvement Manager Rob Jurg, we presented how we collect data and use this to drive crucial decision-making. At Sugar Australia, we are guided by our values, which include Excellence, Passion and Innovation. We were excited to share our knowledge about our operational excellence journey with the committee and generate discussions with like-minded peers to continually improve our business processes. #operationalexcellence #sugaraustralia #innovation

At Sugar Australia, we are passionate about our people’s wellbeing, which is why R U OK? Day is one of the most significant days in our calendar. Today, we gathered across our sites and took the time to check in with each other over a bite to eat. We asked questions, listened, encouraged action and, importantly, committed to continuing to check in with each other throughout the year. This year’s theme is “R U OK? Any Day” and we are incredibly proud of how we embody this at Sugar Australia through our supportive and caring culture. We are also glad to partner with Acacia Connection (Acacia EAP) to provide our people and their families with a comprehensive employee assistance program, available to them 24/7. This year, to show our support for the wellbeing of all Australians, we are donating $10,000 to Beyond Blue. who have provided a trusted source of mental health information, advice, and connection for over 20 years. R U OK? Day is a crucial reminder that wellbeing is an ongoing journey and that a conversation can change a life. #ruokday #ruokanyday #ruokday2024

Recently, ten of Sugar Australia’s big-hearted team members spent the day volunteering at Foodbank Victoria preparing meals for Victorians doing it tough. Together, the team packed 400 hampers of produce and pantry staples and 23 orders for charity partners. Crunching the numbers, that’s equivalent to: 🏋♀️ 7,871 kilos 🍽 15,707 meals That’s pretty sweet!! Foodbank Victoria has been providing vital food relief for more than 90 years, and Sugar Australia is proud to have the opportunity to contribute to the 520+ charities that they support. As a trusted refiner of sugar in Australia since 1855, food has been the name of the game for Sugar Australia for generations. Now, we’re setting our eyes on the future of our people and planet for the next generation. A key focus of our Sustainability Vision is alleviating poverty and hunger, and last year we donated $216,000 of sugar to Foodbank to fill some pantry essentials. We’ve got a long, proud history at Sugar Australia, and we’re even more proud of the people who have been an integral part of that history. This month, we celebrate a very special service anniversary from our Mackay Port facility. Kieran Seeto has ticked over 25 ‘sweet’ years of service this month, just in time for his well-earned retirement. Commencing in 1980 with Sugar Australia, then known as CSR, Kieran worked side-by-side with his dad stacking sugar bags. Since then, he has worn many hats from cleaning and machinery operating, right through to planning and logistics. Kieran has watched many elements of our business change and grow, including our people, our systems, our machinery and our packaging. He even watched as 2010’s Cyclone Ului hit Queensland, tearing through the road and stopping short about 9 metres from his office! Our people are the heart of our business, and Kieran’s dedication to his team and work over the last 25 years has been invaluable. Thank you for your 25 years of service Kieran! #workanniversary #sugaraustralia #mackay

Last week, Sugar Australia celebrated Harmony Week by hosting Food Festival lunches across our sites. We encouraged team members to bring in a dessert from their culture or a country they had enjoyed visiting, and were lucky to enjoy a range of delightful treats including a French tarte tatin, Maltese Figolli Easter pastry, ANZAC biscuits, Malaysian coconut and ginger candy, Japanese cookies, and a range of other dishes from South Africa, Sri Lanka, India and the Philippines. One of the activities our team members enjoyed the most was the scratch maps we posted across sites on which we asked people to pinpoint where their families originate from. It was wonderful to watch the colours emerge throughout the week. We’re extremely proud of the diversity of the Sugar Australia team and thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to recognise and celebrate each other’s culture. #HarmonyWeek #HarmonyDay #diversity #everyonebelongs
