  • So great to have the team from Ocean Alliance Ltd come up to visit the Northern Region of the GBR, supporting our other members - and their client - Morris Nautical. Was a day to be proud of our industry and the collective parts we all play in elevating the offering of the Australian Superyacht industry ⚓️✔️

Last week, the Ocean Alliance team had the pleasure of visiting Cairns, where we represented some of our impressive Central Agency yachts including NORTHERN ESCAPE, BELUGA and FLYING FISH while connected with key industry partners in the region. Across these three we are offering unique destinations along the East Coast and throughout the South Pacific Islands.   While the yachts themselves are undeniably impressive, it’s the dedication, professionalism, and warmth of the crew that truly elevate the charter experience. From expert navigators and skilled engineers to talented chefs and attentive stewards, these teams are the heart and soul of every journey — ensuring our clients enjoy a seamless and memorable experience on the water.   A particular highlight was attending the Nautical Nights event hosted by SuperYacht Group Great Barrier Reef. It was an inspiring evening spent engaging with industry leaders and discussing exciting opportunities to further elevate yachting experiences in this remarkable region.   At Ocean Alliance, we are incredibly proud to work alongside such exceptional crew, and we look forward to continuing to support this fleet of exceptional yachts. • 🌟 Member Highlight 🌟 Awlgrip Custom Tinting now available in Cairns! AkzoNobel are proud to announce that the team at Crowies in Cairns now stock a comprehensive range of Awlgrip products at their Cairns facility. As part of their professional service, they can mix any of our Awlgrip, Awlcraft 3000, Awlgrip HDT and International Perfection Pro colours in store. An added service they provide is with colour scans for repairs and maintenance, (Recently taking colour scans for the local Superyacht SeaBear for some paint touchups). The colour scans are taken with an AMV Spectrometer and are then loaded into the Awlgrip Mixit cloud database. The system then compares the scan to our database of over 30,000 colours to find the nearest existing colour formulation to the area to be painted. Crowies Cairns & Tully stores have been servicing Far North Queensland via the Tully store since the 1970’s and have had a Cairns store for over 13 years. We are delighted to be working with them now as they expand their business to support the growing Superyacht and Pleasure Boat industry. Should you have any requirements for any of our Awlgrip, International or Sea Hawk range of high-performance coatings, drop into their store at: 📍 168/170 Scott Street ☎️ (07) 4041 7237. For technical assistance you can always contact the Akzo Nobel representative : 👴 Peter Nicholson ☎️ 0408 480 001 📩 peter.nicholson@akzonobel.com

  • What an exciting day in the #Superyacht #GBR Calendar, albeit a wet one! I’m pleased to say it didn’t hold off the crowds! ☔ Thanks to all the members who travelled far and wide to welcome the Morris Nautical Fleet - M.Y. Northern Escape, Flying Fish and Beluga, and to participate in the open day and sundowner that followed. ⛵ The day began with media interviews, which play a crucial role in elevating the profile of our industry and educating the public about the long-term benefits fleets like this bring to the GBR economy. 🎥 💱 In the past six months alone, the superyacht industry has generated an impressive $31.9 million for the Far North Queensland economy. 🏝️ Ports North SYGGBR, Morris Nautical and TTNQ were all interviewed, and it was great to see some of the footage featured on 7 media’s platforms including the evening news as well as written features in the Cairns newspapers. 📰 Not a moment after the media flurry was over, the first of 8 tour groups descended upon the fleet to get an up-close look at what these stunning vessels offer. A fantastic opportunity for businesses to discuss and assess where their services can be utilised. These discussions were further continued in yet another epic Nautical Night sundowner which followed. I loved being witness to many of the new connections forming and helping to facilitate important introductions. The turnout of members and guests was exceptional and the buzz in the room was really apparent. We also managed to raise $1,080 throughout the course of the day for Sea Women of Melanesia Inc. which we believe will be contributing to some much needed new I.T equipment. Thank you to the evening sponsors Melanesian Luxury Yachts and Morris Nautical, and our wonderful hosts at The Salt House. It’s truly one of the most rewarding parts of my job to see how engaged, diverse and healthy our member group is. It's what makes it so easy for superyachts to come here and be greeted with all they need. It was also our pleasure to welcome the captain and crew of MY Australia to the day and evening. Although not currently in the water, we are so fortunate as a region to have the facilities they need to get repairs and maintenance done here. This all contributes to the big sum mentioned above. We look forward to welcoming them back to the marina next week. To be a part of this exciting sector, join us as members: https://lnkd.in/gKeincHV

  • What a fantastic success our Marine Sector Sundowner was this week! And what an impressive Marine industry we have in North Queensland. ⚓️ It was so wonderful to see the key leaders of some of our industry’s most important marine centric businesses and stakeholders gather to form new relationships, make introductions and discuss our sector, its opportunities and its challenges. A big thanks to our sponsors for this event Century Cranes and Austal. Although everyone focussed on collaboration and it’s vital importance in our future as a region, I was particularly inspired by Century Cranes speech regarding their journey as a business and their motivation to join Superyacht Group GBR. GM Bianca Wilson reflected with us back beyond 2011 to when their was a lack of a wharf crane in the Cairns Port, and the risk her business took making a $2.4million investment in a 200t mobile crane. The first in our region. What followed was the enablement of larger cargo to be easily taken from ships, bigger panels to be used in construction, bigger bridge girders and culverts… you can imagine, the list goes on. This 200t seed, watered by investment, fertilised with vision and commitment, took roots and grew and in turn supported and enabled the growth of our region. Bianca also spoke about her unwavering investment in the SYGGBR since 2011. They joined not so much believing it would directly benefit them, but to support a potential industry that would in turn support her other clients and customers. She likened it to paying rates, it keeps the water running for everyone. I have to pay tribute to business women like Bianca and businesses like Century Cranes. They think outside themselves for the greater good of the business community. They are the backbones supporting our region. They truly are the epitome of the famous quote we used in our own welcome speeches “A Rising tide lifts all ships” That “potential industry” Bianca spoke of also took off, and here we are today…celebrating 25 years of being the country’s only remaining independent regional Superyacht group. Thanks again to all of you who attended to support COUCH Wellness Centre. We raised over a $1000 and I believe Couch has made some even more valuable connections. The partnership between ourselves and Defence Industry Networking will also continue in its growth and we look forward to seeing you all, and those of you who missed out, when we do it all again in May! If you share a passion for our industry and want to contribute to the prosperity and sustainability of a strong marine and Superyacht industry here in the GBR region, please consider becoming a member - come rise the tide with us!
