DO YOU PRIORITISE GRANT MANAGEMENT IN 2025? Grant-reliant organisations and councils that want to preserve their funders' trust have chosen to: ✨ systemise, ✨ document, and ✨ hold themselves accountable ...for managing the millions of dollars in grants they receive each year by prioritising post-award grant management. We've talked to many organisations who are thinking ahead about grant management. Here are some of the things they do differently: 1. Ordering an audit of their grant administration processes 2. Creating a new ‘Grants Officer’ role to ensure proper ownership 3. Training and upskilling underutilised team members to focus on grants 4. Investing in software to support their existing grants team Prioritising grant management demonstrates to grantmakers that your organisation can be trusted with future funding. This is the precedent for protecting one of the most valuable revenue streams for many NFP and local councils in Australia today.

Tracking your grants in a spreadsheet makes it hard to clearly see the links between multiple streams of grant funding and multiple projects ⛓️💥 Multiple grants funding one project: 💰💰💰 > ⚙️ Or, one grant funding multiple projects: 💰 > ⚙️⚙️⚙️ This is where purpose-built hashtag #GrantManagementSoftware has the advantage: 🔗 Build many-to-many relationships between your grants and projects 📊 Pull that data together into milestone reporting, monthly leadership snapshots or just to keep an eye on ongoing budgets ✔️ Keep your reporting up-to-date by setting tasks for other team members to update project statuses and contracts awarded

START WITH GRANT GOVERNANCE Uncoordinated grant applications can lead to significant challenges for LGAs: ❌ Multiple submissions for the same grant ❌ Applying for grants with unaffordable co-contributions ❌ Missing application deadlines ❌ Resource conflicts with existing projects ❌ Unexpected long-term costs for new assets Grant management software can address these issues by: 1️⃣ Implementing standardised governance processes 2️⃣ Facilitating collaboration across departments 3️⃣ Centralising grant information for better prioritisation Managing the grant funding is more than just logging all your grants on a spreadsheet. It's standing up a coordinated, disciplined process for deciding: - what grants we apply for - how we apply for them - how we maximise potential revenue - and reduce the risk of winning the wrong grants #GrantManagement

Applying for grants is often seen as time-intensive, complex, and uncertain. It doesn't have to be that way: 1/ Do your homework. Read all the documentation, attend briefings, and ask clarifying questions to the grant maker (without giving away your IP or advantage). 2/ Focus on the problem, not just your qualifications. Restate the challenge using the grantmaker's language in your writing. 3/ Outline your approach and how you'll engage stakeholders. Give them a reason to want to work with you (and be thrilled about it). 4/ Demonstrate excitement for the opportunity. Connect with the grantmaker and their mission, and make them want you on the shortlist. If you put in the effort to truly understand the grantmaker's needs, craft a compelling, client-focused response is simple. What are your top tips for standing out in grant applications? #GrantWriting #GrantManagement

Want to win more grants and bigger grants as a small organisation? 💰 Don't underestimate how much better your application will look to the funder or grantmaker if you detail the processes and controls you will put in place. Don't be afraid to tell them: 𝟏/ How you'll mitigate risk and demonstrate accountability 𝟐/ What governance processes you will put in place 𝟑/ How clear your focus is on delivering value if you receive the funding Big organisations with better track records have an upper hand in grant applications, but small organisations that take the time to communicate their fit and value will always give themselves a much better chance.

BEFORE YOUR NEXT GRANT REPORT 👇 Think carefully: is the data you're providing... - insightful? - accurate? - timely? Some things to avoid when it comes to grant management: 🚩 Inaccurate data 🚩 Unclear reporting 🚩 Delayed progress updates Poor grant management can erode trust. This erosion impacts your ability to drive impact and secure future funding. To build and maintain trust: ✅ Provide clear visualisations of all data and milestones ✅ Highlight short-term wins alongside medium and long-term goals ✅ Ensure timely, accurate reporting ✅ Communicate delays and variations promptly Remember: Success in current programs attracts future funding. Good #GrantManagement makes it easier to win funding the next time you apply. Grant recipients, be proactive in your communication and address concerns head-on. Show you're on top of your project. Protect your organisation's future funding potential.
