🌙✨ What an unforgettable experience at the Jannali Moonrise Festival! From start to finish, the Jannali Town Centre came alive with vibrant energy, celebrating culture and community. Huge shout out to our amazing team who organised the event, to the performers, and every single person who came along and made this event a success! 🙌 #JannaliMoonriseFestival #Community #CulturalCelebration
🌙 The coolest things we deliver are those we do together - like the Jannali Moonrise Festival. A true cross organisational effort to bring this incredible high street event to life. 🌙 First Nations cultural ceremony, Mulga street art, silent discos, epic food trucks, live music, and Bluey. Moonrise had it all! 🌙 Huge thanks to our talented, hard-working Sutherland Shire Council teams, and also our event partner Kurranulla Aboriginal Corporation with funding from NSW Government’s Open Streets Program.

October is Safe Work Month and Mental Health Month, and we were delighted to host two fabulous speakers - wellness coach Jay Pottenger and Paralympian Brett Stibners this month. They spoke about resilience, performance, and our core value of safety. We took away some great practical tips around looking after ourselves, and each other - something we strive to do every day.

Highlights from #CouncilMeeting Monday 21 October 2024: 📸 Local photographers John Veage and Chris Lane Photo stepped out from behind the lens to be honoured with a Mayoral Minute. Councillors paid tribute to their incredible contributions to capturing history across Sutherland Shire, during their extensive careers with The Leader. ⚽️ We are looking forward to working closely with our community, including through establishing an Oyster Bay Oval Community Reference Group, to ensure best use of the Oval into the future through field improvements. We will also explore options to access surrounding school sports facilities when the oval is affected by heavy rains. 🗣️ Our new Councillors brought plenty of fresh ideas and perspectives to their first full Council meeting. Councillors introduced a range of motions, putting forward innovative ideas on how to keep our beaches and public spaces clean, improve parking in some of our town centres and expand oversight on management of our local waterways. 📺 View the full meeting on YouTube: bit.ly/3VZ9ETS To view a summary of topics discussed and final decisions, visit: bit.ly/3P3Xl6F
