And that's a wrap for the 2024 WIMWA (Women in Mining and Resources WA ) Summit! Our team cannot wait to bring back their learnings to site. They thoroughly enjoyed connecting with people from across the mining industry and left feeling more a part of the community than ever before. This year's speakers inspired us with insights on building community, embracing curiosity, personal growth, and challenging the myth of meritocracy, among other thought-provoking topics. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth for a chat, and to the team at Boffins Books for once again partnering with us on our giveaways. We're already counting down the days until next year's conference! A special shoutout to all the inspiring speakers and organisers who made this event such a success, and to our very own Rumbie for jumping up on stage a couple of times! Your energy and enthusiasm truly shone through and made us all so proud.
About us
Talison is a leading global producer of lithium minerals situated on a world class lithium asset at Greenbushes in the south west of Western Australia that has been supplying a global customer network for almost 40 years. Talison is a private company owned by two companies under a joint venture arrangement - Tianqi Lithium Corporation/IGO Limited JV (51%) and Albemarle Corporation (49%). In anticipation of sustained growth in lithium consumption, driven primarily by the secondary lithium battery market, Talison has more than doubled its production capacity at the Greenbushes Lithium Operation to supply feedstock for the Kwinana Lithium Hydroxide Refinery near Perth and Albemarle's Kemerton Lithium Hydroxide Plant near Bunbury.

We were thrilled to be back at Greenbushes Primary School today for their annual science fair! Our team loved getting to share the fun side of the science behind what they do each day. We hope the experience sparked curiosity in the students and left a lasting impression to help drive the next generation of thinkers, explorers, and problem-solvers. Highlights included launching canister rockets, exploring the effects of liquid nitrogen on marshmallow texture, turning a lemon into a battery, and running relay stations on conservation and fauna. We also had a photo booth, magnetic separation and separation based on sizing (screening/sieving) activities and a pH indicator experiment.

Our Greenbushes Lithium Operation is officially the first mine in Australia to commit to an independent audit to the IRMA Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA). This is a significant step forward in our ongoing commitment to responsible mining and transparency. The decision to volunteer for this thorough audit process reflects Talison’s dedication to responsible mining practices and to engage openly with our stakeholders. The IRMA audit, conducted by SCS Global Services, will involve a comprehensive desktop review followed by an onsite audit. At Talison, family matters. This is why we recently introduced a new parental leave guideline focused on enhancing accessibility, flexibility, and gender equity. Click on the pictures below to see how the new guideline will benefit employees like Jade, Mikaela, David, Jacqueline, and Louis. Our new guideline, informed by best-practice research and employee feedback, brings about substantial improvements in parental leave entitlements, reflecting our commitment to supporting our employees at every stage of their journey. Here's a glimpse of some of our significantly improved entitlements: - Reduced Eligibility Period: Employees are now eligible to take parental leave after just six months of service with Talison. - 26 Weeks of Paid Parental Leave for the Primary Caregiver: Permanent employees designated as the primary caregiver will be entitled to 26 weeks of paid parental leave, with the option to take it at half-pay. - Continued Superannuation Payments: Primary caregivers will continue to receive superannuation payments for up to 12 months, even while on both paid and unpaid leave. - Fertility Treatment Leave: Recognising the importance of fertility treatment, eligible employees are entitled to up to 5 days of paid fertility treatment leave per calendar year. Furthermore, employees supporting their partners undergoing fertility treatment can access up to 2 days of paid fertility treatment leave.
