Last month, Landmark Orthopaedics hosted Year 10 students from North Sydney Boys High School, Wenona School, Loreto Kirribilli, and Queenwood School for a week-long work experience program.
This immersive experience provided students with exposure to all areas of our medical group. Students engaged in a wide range of activities, including:
- Observing return-to-sport testing at Jointli, gaining valuable insights into athletic performance assessment.
- Witnessing patient consultations at The Knee Institute, offering a firsthand glimpse into the intricacies of orthopaedic care.
- Exploring the cutting-edge technology of Personalised Surgery, where they learned about the processes and use of 3-D Printing and the design of patient-specific medical devices.
- Gaining a perspective into the importance of research initiatives in developing new and improved methods of treatment in knee conditions at Sydney Orthopaedic Research Institute.
Beyond observations, students participated in challenging group activities designed to hone their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Their collaborative efforts in addressing real-world scenarios were truly impressive.
In addition to hands-on experiences, our staff also conducted informative presentations, providing students with in-depth understanding into various aspects of orthopaedics.
We congratulate all the students for their active engagement and enthusiasm throughout the program. We trust this experience provided valuable perspectives into potential career paths and sparked a passion for healthcare. We wish all the students the very best in their final years of school and future endeavors.
