Day 1 of the Emerging Leaders Dialogue was an extraordinary day where leaders from Australia and Papua New Guinea seamlessly integrated into a community passionate for progressive change and impact. Through candid dialogues over both meeting and dinner tables, our leaders discussed and reflected on the opportunities for young people to strengthen Australia-PNG ties. A warm thank you to Sarah Mak from Folktale who powerfully spoke on storytelling and its relevance in monitoring, evaluating and communicating impact.

A new Lowy Institute Analysis by Chell Lyons, Roland Rajah and Grace Stanhope proposes an Indo-Pacific Economic Resilience Bank to tackle economic insecurity, climate change, and stalling development. The authors say the bank could accelerate clean energy funding by mobilising new public and private capital investments, primarily for projects in the Indo-Pacific’s developing economies. And it can create multilateral economic security by diversifying green supply chains to dilute the current excessive dependence on China. The bank would create benefits for both developing and advanced economies, fostering new industries and diversified, resilient markets while helping build the multilateral cooperation and capabilities needed to construct a more secure and sustainable world. 👇 Read the full Analysis. https://lnkd.in/gbtyPeva

A stronger Australia-PNG relationship represents a brighter future for both countries. The 2024 Emerging Leaders Dialogue held in Canberra last week was a prime example, where 10 young Australian leaders were joined by 10 of their Papua New Guinean counterparts to reflect on the power of young people in forging stronger Australia-PNG ties. Over the week, our Emerging Leaders engaged in open dialogue with experts across government, education, sports, media and most importantly, each other. We are excited to capture and present these conversations and insights into an Outcomes Report, which will play a role in shaping the public discourse surrounding the Australia-PNG relationship. A special thank you to Lowy Institute, Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Australian High Commission Papua New Guinea for supporting the Network and Dialogue. Mihai S.
