In Australia, the gap between those who can manage rising costs and those being left behind is growing. The Foodbank Hunger Report 2024, released today, uncovers a confronting reality: 2 million households have faced severe food insecurity this year. That could include your neighbours, friends, family members, or coworkers. It’s a heartbreaking figure that shines a light on the daily struggles of too many Australians wondering where their next meal will come from. Find out more about the hunger crisis in Australia by visiting our website. #EndHunger #FHR24 #HungerReport #ZeroHunger

50 Volunteers joined us from Rio Tinto this morning thanks to our membership with Volunteering Queensland. Over 120 hours of work was accomplished is 2 and a half hours of work. This is the power of corporate volunteering for small charities. Today volunteers helped with weeding in the field, cleaned our shed, tidied the tank area and aloe helped move soil and create beds with Green Thumb Farm. This is our last volunteer day at our Samford farm as it now comes to a close. We are now focusing on our new planned 5 acre youth training farm next year. A New Opportunity for The Mini Farm Project: We are excited to share that The Mini Farm Project has an incredible opportunity to partner with Youth Enterprise Trust at their Woodstock Farm, where we plan to develop a 6-acre Youth Training Farm. This initiative will help us train the next generation of farmers while continuing to provide free meals to vulnerable communities. However, as with many charities across Australia, this year has been challenging. The rising cost of living has led to a significant decline in donations, and despite our best efforts, we were unable to secure the bridge funding needed to sustain our current farms at Samford and Loganlea. As a result, after much consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to close both sites—Loganlea and Samford at the end of October. While it’s never easy to say goodbye to these farms, this is not the end for us. We’re embracing this moment as a chance to refocus our energy on creating sustainable, self-funding projects and expanding our impact through new farm sites. Our vision remains clear: to Feed Aussies in Need and to build a network of charity farms across Australia. With the Woodstock Farm Youth Training Farm, we are excited to push forward with a model that not only feeds communities but also educates and empowers young people. We’re so grateful for the support we’ve received from our community, sponsors and donors over the years and are excited to share this new chapter with you. We would like to thank the hard work of our farmers Liam and Rob at Samford and Kirsty, Natalia and Shayne at Loganlea as well as the countless volunteers who have given their time. If you would like to support our work, you can purchase our coffee or participate in our Feed Australia Challenge at www.mfp.org.au. Thank you for standing with us as we continue our mission to make a meaningful impact.

A BIG THANK YOU! to our Volunteers for helping with our weekly Farm Gate in Samford and also to Darren Grimwade GAICD for loaning the use of his pop up for the last 2 weekends. We are on a Mission to Fight Hunger by creating a Network of Charity Farms to Grow Food to Feed Aussies in Need each week for Free. We have proven our model with our Samford farm now in it's 4th year and proven replication with our Loganlea State High School site. Charity begins at the home of Wolves Wynnum Wolves FC will champion two fantastic local charities in the 2025 season to help families in need in the Bayside. The club is committed to reaching out to its football membership and network, as well as the broader Bayside community, to raise $100,000 for The Mini Farm Project and the StandbyU Foundation Club President Rabieh Krayem said both charities are dedicated to delivering tangible solutions for two very different but pressing social issues that affect families in the local area. “We like to talk about our local football club being a ‘home away from home’ for all our members,” Mr. Krayem said. “Fostering a strong sense of community has been a big part of the amazing growth of our football club over recent seasons. I’ve seen first-hand the connectedness of our community and their sense of generosity, so I’m confident the broader Wynnum and Wolves community will firmly support these two worthy projects to help make a difference for local families in need.” Wynnum Wolves is looking forward to sharing more details about these charity links in the coming weeks and months.
