Last week, Troocoo hosted an executive leadership event, Beyond the Finish Line, at the Rivershed, Howard Smith Wharves. We were honoured to welcome Olympic gold medallist Ariarne Titmus and elite performance coach Dean Boxall as guest speakers, delivering an inspiring session on the mindset and strategies behind sustained peak performance. A special thank you to our sponsors, Growth Workplace Design, Brighter Super, Happy Buyers Club, and Macquarie Technology Group, for their support in making this event a success. With over 250 clients in attendance, this event provided an invaluable opportunity for our community to draw parallels between the high-stakes world of elite sports and the challenges faced in business leadership. Ariarne and Dean shared valuable insights on what it means to persevere and reach the highest level of performance. Their discussions highlighted essential themes: The importance of purpose guiding your decisions, commitment to achieving excellence, and strategies behind building a winning mindset. Ariarne emphasised that success stems from setting clear, measurable goals and cultivating strong resilience to overcome challenges. She shared how focus and perseverance, even in tough times, are essential to long-term success. Ariarne believes anyone can achieve their goals, if they believe in themselves. Her journey demonstrates how resilience and mental toughness allows individuals to stay committed to their goals, despite obstacles. Dean Boxall shared several of his guiding principles to achieve high level performance: • True leadership means: That you should have 1000 keys in your ‘leadership’ toolbox to unlock the performance and engagement of an individual. It is your job as the leader to keep testing those keys until you can finally unlock them. • Give 100% of your current state: If someone in your team is at 25% capacity that day/week, as a leader don’t apologise for asking for 100% of that 25%. • Genuinely care and learn about your people: As a leader, this will set you up for a trusted relationship and success. Be curious about the person first, then focus on the performance second. • The truth is key: Honest feedback, no matter how challenging it may be, is key. Remember, giving and receiving feedback is a gift. The discussion explored themes like leading through uncertainty-especially during the challenges of COVID-19 and highlighted resilience, adaptability, and purpose as core drivers of lasting success. Ariarne and Dean reminded us that true achievement lies not only in results but in the preparation, discipline, and belief that you've given your very best. Thank you to all those who attended.
