PROJECT COMPLETION | Westminster Agriculture Centre The Westminster Agriculture Centre is one of seven projects we have had the pleasure of delivering in collaboration with our long-standing client, Westminster School Adelaide, reflecting the strength and continuity of our ongoing relationship. This project was designed to facilitate the growing needs of Westminster’s Agricultural educational facilities and support the future visions for additional learning programs. Delivering indoor and outdoor learning spaces, food tech, science lab, viticulture lab, aquaculture lab and storage spaces within a modern barn aesthetic nestled within the existing grape vines. Additionally, the new retail space allows students to experience the full lifecycle of their produce from farm to table whilst enhancing community connections. With a commitment to embracing the existing natural context, this centre explores innovative ways to provide indoor-outdoor connection that compliments its surrounding environment. This project saw a high level of collaboration between client, architect and consultants enabling the successful development of unique state-of-the-art facilities. The Victorian state government has broadcasted another plan to deliver additional housing in key areas of Melbourne. Sunday’s announcement predominately concerns areas in Melbourne’s southeast with 25 new “train and tram zones” which will be expected to accommodate higher density in the coming years. An additional 25 zones are to be identified shortly, which in combination with the established 10 pilot major activity centres, totals 60 locations earmarked for increased density in Melbourne’s inner and middle rings. Detail and clarity on the planning mechanisms that will be utilised to drive these changes is still yet to be revealed. This announcement is accompanied by an additional release detailing a temporary stamp duty concession for the purchase of off-the-plan apartments, units, and townhouses within a strata subdivision. URPS will continue to stay abreast of these fast-moving policy agendas and will provide further updates when more information becomes available. If you have any questions or require specific advice, please contact Paul Beatty or Laura Murray on (03) 8593 9650.

Congratulations to Campbelltown City Council for winning the Resilient Australia Awards 2024 Local Government award for its Cool Spaces for Summer Program! URPS is proud to have assisted Council with this program which is one of the first of its kind in Australia. This involved developing a program to activate cool spaces for community to use during extreme heat and then delivering a pilot in March 2024. Cool spaces are a critical way to support communities as our climate changes and more extreme heat occurs. The death toll from heatwaves in Australia exceeds that for any other environmental disaster, including floods, bushfires and cyclones. Well done to all involved in this nation leading program - now onto the national awards! 🏆 Campbelltown City Council / Maria Zotti / Kimberley Kueh / Ieva Daenka / Nicole Halsey / Emily Mansfield / Cool Spaces Community Reference Group /South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM) / Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience / Resilient Australia Awards
