As it did with Digital Literacy many years ago, UNESCO has now produced a neat little infographic to help guide our thinking when approaching professional development for staff, regarding #AI
Leader in Learning Technologies and Innovation - M.Sc. EdTech - Apple Distinguished Educator - Google Certified Innovator - Microsoft Innovative Education Expert
I’ve attempted to summarise the UNESCO AI Competency Framework for Teachers, released last week. I've taken the extensive, lengthy report and attempted to gather my take on the 10 key points, and areas of focus. If you have the time, I highly recommend reading the full report, which I previously shared. This infographic was created using Perplexity AI and Canva. (Thanks for the inspiration, Coby Reynolds!) #AI #Education #UNESCO #EdTech #PerplexityAI #Canva

Cameron Schwab interviews Neil Craig: Neil explains how implementing a 'team ethos' can facilitate a shared understanding of performance expectations and a shared appreciation for the value of each person's individual role. He also touches on the importance of the physical environments within which we hold our key leadership conversations. A certain amount needs to be deliberate...it's why he has two desks in his office! #Principals #SchoolLeadership

“It would just set the scene, you just knew what the conversation was going to be about” - Neil Craig The Tale of Two Tables Neil Craig, this week’s guest ‘In the Arena’, is a man with experience in the broadest range of elite sport, and has made growth a practice. Whether it be as the Senior Coach of the Adelaide Football Club in the AFL - Australian Football League after a storied playing career, as Eddie Jones’ ‘truth teller’ when Eddie was coaching both England and Australia in Rugby World Cups, or working with legendary cycling coach Charlie Walsh in Olympic campaigns, Neil provides the most profound insights that can only come from someone who brings curiosity and courage to every conversation. In the podcast, he speaks about creating the environment to invite discussion and feedback. He speaks of his choice to have two tables in his office, one where people would come to discuss performance and the other for a more casual conversation. He shows that it’s the leaders who create the conditions of performance by embedding a team ethos through a deeper understanding of the respective roles and commitment to carrying them out, week in and week out, and in the moments that matter. Neil not only invites conversation, he creates an environment to allow for it to happen. He creates an environment that finds positive culture. He understands that the conditions he creates are the moments that matter. A true leader, at both tables. Grab a pen and notebook, and take the time; this is a rich offering from a very generous leader. Enjoy! Play on! Cam ———————- Episode #006 of 'In the Arena' Podcast with Neil Craig is available NOW. It’s September, the deadline month for an #education #funding #agreement. Looks like a game of #political chicken! This will be the fourth time Tanya A. Serry, PhD and I have delivered this School of Education, La Trobe University bespoke language and literacy online short course for secondary teachers. We refine it a little every time, drawing on feedback and learnings provided by our very engaged participants. The next one starts in September 😊👇
Upskill your language and literacy knowledge and classroom practices for secondary students with our short course, 'The Science of Language and Reading – The Secondary School Perspective'. Delivered online over four 1.5-hour weekly webinars, this course is designed to improve your understanding of the reading process, how oral language, reading, and writing link to each other, and how to support students’ ongoing oral language and literacy skills across the curriculum. You’ll learn from Professor Pamela Snow and Professor Tanya Serry, co-founders of La Trobe’s Science of Language and Reading (SOLAR) Lab. The SOLAR Lab was established to promote the scientific study of the role of oral language skills in the emergence and consolidation of reading skills across the school years. The next intake will run from 4-25 September 2024. Register now: https://bit.ly/470sT6j #LaTrobeEducation #SOLARLab #LaTrobeUniversity

Australia faces a critical choice: continue with a school funding model that perpetuates inequity, or invest in a system that provides every child with the opportunity to succeed. ASPA calls for a renewed, collaborative focus on needs-based funding and a commitment to closing the gap between aspiration and reality in Australian education. #EducationEquity #SchoolFunding Andy Mison Read the Blog here: https://lnkd.in/ggVse9tw

What an amazing experience for students!
Yesterday, six of our Brentwood Secondary College students and I, had the esteemed honor of attending the exclusive commemoration event for Sir John Monash, held at the Legislative Assembly Chamber at the Parliament of Victoria. Brentwood was one of 10 schools from around Melbourne who were invited to this event by The Spirit of Australia Foundation. The event featured distinguished guests and speakers, including Professor Major General Jeffrey V Rosenfeld, Mr Nick Staikos MP (Parliamentary Secretary for Jacinta Allan), John Pesutto, Brighid Sammon and Colonel Daniel Strack CSC. Diary excerpts were read from the 1916 ANZAC Day, by SGT Hugo Fowles, and we witnessed the laying of wreaths, followed by a solemn "Last Post" and a minute of silence. We heard about the life of Sir John Monash as a scholar, an engineer, an exceptional leader in times of war as well as his huge contribution in being a key "nation builder". Our students acknowledged Sir John Monash's immense legacy and expressed their gratitude at being invited to such an event. Their exemplary behavior at the event resulted in Brentwood Secondary College being invited to a follow-up Leadership event later in the year! Thank you to all the students who attended!
