We recently launched the #Advancinghousingjustice grant round to address #housinginsecurity in Victoria. Why? Our Board CEO and Commissioner, Fiona McLeay, explains: ‘More and more Victorians are experiencing housing insecurity … a lack of stable housing underlies so many other challenges that people experience. ‘That prompted us to think, what role can we play in improving housing security in Victoria? ‘Were not about to start building homes. That’s not our expertise. ‘We needed to explore the options available to our sector that could make a difference. What are the levers we can pull to address this extremely complex situation?’ Watch the full video and find out more about the Advancing housing justice report by Gerard Brody on our website: https://bit.ly/3KZUCtS

What’s #housinginsecurity got to do with the legal sector? Hear from our Board CEO and Commissioner, Fiona McLeay, at the launch of our #Advancinghousingjustice report and grant round in June. ‘Housing is a fundamental right … it’s connected with our emotional and physical security and deeply rooted to our sense of belonging. ‘A lack of housing, therefore, can threaten social cohesion, and that in turn has implications for people’s interactions with the justice system and the rule of law. Those things are really important to us as the regulator of the legal profession and as a significant funder of #AccesstoJustice initiatives in Victoria.’ Watch the full video and find out more about the Advancing housing justice report by Gerard Brody on our website. https://bit.ly/3KZUCtS

We have issued a warning to law practices to perform proper background checks on the non-legal staff they hire and provide ongoing #supervision, after former paralegal Athena Razos was sent to prison for stealing client money from a sizeable law firm: https://bit.ly/3Lxv1Zk #lawyer #auslaw
