People with specialist fuel knowledge are crucial - especially going forward into energy transition. People who understand fuel at a physical and chemical level, know its not a simple commodity, but an essential part of operations & performance. The marine sector have known this for years because they've had no choice; out on the ocean they can't afford to take risks with fuel. Which means they engage with in-house & contracted support teams dedicated to fuel. The mining sector needs to shore up their expertise in this space now too. They need to reduce their carbon output, whilst still maximising their fuel performance, especially with the introduction of renewable & bio fuels. Something worth sharing....and a little burst of professional pride!
Why are fuel additives no longer optional? Today, ultra-low sulphur fuels are blended from multiple sources which dramatically compromises their shelf life…sometimes there’s no shelf-life at all. The sad fact is that as soon as blended, before they hit your tanks, fuels are already in such a state where no engine can fully extract its full energy potential. The result? Fuel inefficiency of around 5% in open cut mining with even more in power plants and underground mining. The signs of compromised fuel are DPF’s requiring constant regenerations, excessive consumption of urea and, more simply, black smoke. These are all indicators that the combustion is incomplete and fuel is being wasted. Which means money is also being wasted. Modern fossil fuels are already complex and they are about to get even more complicated as industrial users begin to adopt blends of fossil with renewable fuels in order to meet their decarbonisation objectives. Long gone are the days where you just trusted that your fuel showed up and performed as it was intended. That train has left the station and isn’t returning anytime soon. But there is a solution. A ‘plug & play’ solution. We have designed, developed & built an infrastructure to improve the current fuel issue, and to future-proof large consumers of fuels who are increasingly opting for renewable fuels. Welcome to the VM Industrials Additive Management System (AMS)! The Vm Industrials Aderco Additive Management System (AMS) allows large fuel consumers to introduce our 100% sustainable & renewable additive directly from your tanks & bowsers into the awaiting truck, crane, locomotive or genset. By using our additive, you begin saving in fossil fuel consumption resulting in direct decarbonisation & lower CO2 emissions. Plus, you get a more complete combustion, which means you’re no longer wasting fuel or money. The infrastructure also prepares sites for the introduction of renewable fuels without the risks commonly associated. The reality is that renewables, such as biodiesel and HVO’s must play a part in the energy transition path to zero. And we can help you make this a smooth, risk-free transition. The management system and additive work with all types of fuels: from diesel, petrol, biodiesels, biofuels & HVOs. Each drum of Aderco treats 4.1 million litres of fuel, meaning a little goes a long way. In addition, it is fully automated, with real-time data on additive levels & dosing being sent via email and SMS. Security is not a problem, as each unit is fully enclosed and lockable. Installation only requires one day without disruption to operations.
