During September, Walkabout received a significant increase in sales orders, with larger volume sales orders bound for new end customers in China and India totalling 800 tonnes. More than 60% of the volume ordered is for coarse flake graphite. Pictured are our bags of bagged flake graphite concentrate, ready to be loaded onto the next truck out of Lindi Jumbo. We are ramping up production to meet nameplate capacity, having produced more than 4,000 tonnes of graphite since first production in June. As we expect follow on orders of both coarse and fine flake graphite from our pilot orders from Europe and Asia, we’re seeing robust demand for our premium product offering. #Walkabout #WalkaboutResources #ASX #ASXNews #Graphite #GraphiteConcentrate

African graphite producer with Lindi Jumbo premium large flake graphite from SE Tanzania
About us
Walkabout Resources Limited (ASX: WKT) is focused on responsibly and sustainably exploring, producing and delivering metals and minerals critical for the global transition to renewable technologies, in addition to traditional, steadfast market applications. The company is currently finalising construction at its flagship Lindi Jumbo Graphite Mine in Tanzania. Production is on track for commencement in H1, 2024. Using innovative proprietary techniques in graphite processing, the unique high-grade, large-flake Lindi Jumbo Graphite Mine will produce graphite concentrate with an exceptional ratio of natural flakes highly skewed towards large end of the flake size spectrum. As a dominant active material for lithium-ion battery anodes, graphite is vitally important to the energy transition. Even more advantageous to Walkabout Resources is that due to the characteristics of its large flake graphite supply at Lindi Jumbo, the Company will be able to serve majority of end-users of natural flake graphite. In addition to Lindi Jumbo, WKT holds other graphite and gold assets in Tanzania, as well as an exploration portfolio of gold and base metals in Northern Ireland and Scotland. At the heart of WKT’s operations lies a commitment to developing projects that generate exceptional value for their local communities and stakeholders. The company is proud of its record in actively engaging with local communities where their operations are located, to create a better world for future generations. This is embodied by its philosophy of ‘Tanzania first, local first.’

Interest in regional graphite prices has spiked following the implementation of China’s export controls on graphite as well as the US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and updated Section 301 tariffs. The US’s regulatory changes reflect its government’s ambition to establish a more independent graphite supply chain. Fastmarkets, who will be launching a price assessment of US graphite flake, predict graphite demand to surge more than 600% to ~700,000 tonnes by 2034. The introduction of the price benchmark aims to provide greater transparency and reliability for battery manufacturers and graphite producers and investors, especially following recent shifts in global regulatory landscape and rising demand for battery-grade materials. Fastmarkets Principal Analyst Amy Bennet commented, “This is a pivotal moment in the US graphite sector, with the US aiming to de-risk from China and become more self-sufficient in the graphite space, particularly for battery-grade materials.” Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dumxuwip

WALKABOUT RESOURCES - ANNUAL REPORT AVAILABLE Earlier this week, Walkabout Resources released its Annual Report for the year ended 30 June 2024. During the period under review, the Company’s primary focus was its wholly owned Lindi Jumbo Graphite Mine in Tanzania. To this end, the Company optimised the initial 3-year Lindi Jumbo Graphite mine plan, completed majority of construction activities at the mine, has largely employed the mine’s workforce, commenced mining and production on site, transported a first consignment of on-spec graphite concentrate to Dar es Salaam and executed the debt facility with UK-based Gemcorp to fulfil the above-mentioned works. The outlook for the year ahead is solid. After the reporting period, Walkabout has achieved theoretical break-even in production at the mine, following persistent efforts from teams on site to optimise processes. Further refinements continue to be made, positioning the mine to achieve optimal utilisation. We’re proud of our continued zero LTI record at the Lindi Jumbo Graphite Mine, having now maintained more than 2 and a half years without significant incidents or lost time injuries (LTI’s). As we continue with the ramp up of the processing plant at Lindi Jumbo we are focused on progressively increasing throughput to the 40kpta market capacity, safely and sustainably. Walkabout’s EPC contractors remain on site at Lindi Jumbo, allowing us to promptly address operational and performance issues – such as changes, breakages and replacements – as they are identified. With commissioning and ramp up ongoing, their presence in-person has been incredibly valuable to ensuring optimised plant operations and improved plant availability. #graphite #WKT #WalkaboutResources #GraphiteMine #LindiJumbo #Tanzania #mining #GraphiteConcentate

One of Walkabout’s main priorities this quarter is to progressively increase throughput, whilst increasing process consistency and optimising product grade and maximising flake size retention. Our contracted laboratory partners, MSA Labs, have been on site, focusing on reducing turnaround times on graphite sample testing from the plant to enable us to continually adjust the plant settings to optimise operations. Graphite recoveries continue to exceed 90% with no issues in liberating the graphite flakes from fresh or weathered host rock encountered. #graphite #WKT #WalkaboutResources #GraphiteMine #LindiJumbo #Tanzania #mining #GraphiteConcentate

Last week, Walkabout Resources announced to market that a daily production record – 94 bags of dried graphite concentrate – was achieved at the Lindi Jumbo Graphite Mine, during the month of August. The daily production average for August came in at a comfortable ~50 bags/day, bringing the mine to the verge of theoretical ‘breakeven’. Visiting Perth, Western Australia last week for the annual Paydirt Media Pty Ltd Africa Down Under Conference, MD & CEO Andrew Cunningham took time to shed light on these latest developments. The growing EV and renewables technology market has been a massive driver of demand growth for graphite in recent years, with it being a key component in the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries. Alongside these emerging technologies in the world’s transition from fossil fuels to renewables, traditional applications of graphite remain crucial and continue to be important markets for graphite, with some examples including refractories, lubricants and friction products. Our high purity coarse flake graphite concentrate will meet a variety of demands for technology and research, industrial materials, military and defence weapons and technologies that underpin decarbonisation efforts.
