  🎉 A New Beginning at Wanslea Early Learning & Development Centre in Stirling! 🎉   On Saturday, 17th August, we officially opened the doors to our Stirling Early Learning & Development Centre with excitement and optimism. This isn’t just a new building; it’s a new chapter filled with endless possibilities for our children and families.   This Centre is the result of a wonderful partnership between Wanslea and the Stirling Adriatic Centre, a shared vision brought to life. Together, we’ve created a space where every child is welcomed, nurtured, and empowered to reach their full potential.   Early childhood is a crucial time in a child’s life, and with our dedicated team and quality programs, we’re committed to providing the care and education that will help every child thrive.   A big thank you to our special guests who made the day even more memorable: Robyn Whadjuk Ballardong Yorga Collard, Dr. Anne Aly, Sabine Winton MLA, David Michael, Michael Martinovich, President of the Stirling Adriatic Centre, its members, all of the Stirling Councillors, our Wanslea staff, and the wonderful families and children who joined us. Today, we had the privilege of attending a morning tea for grandparent Carers at the Parliament House, hosted by Cassie Rowe MLA. Cassie has been a steadfast advocate for Grandcarers, and this event provided a valuable opportunity in recognising the incredible effort Grandcarers put into looking after their grandchildren and showing appreciation for their hard work. It is important to note an increasing number of children are now being raised full-time by their grandparents. Unfortunately, these informal caregiving arrangements often lack sufficient financial support, resulting in poverty and hardship for these families. Our Wanslea Grandcarers, alongside Grandcarers WA, engaged in meaningful conversations with Cassie, sharing the challenges they face and discussing how the WA Government could enhance its support for these incredible individuals. We are grateful for the opportunity to bring attention to these issues and look forward to seeing positive changes that will provide much-needed support to Grandcarers. Together, we can work towards A Fairer Future for Grandchildren and their dedicated grandcarers.

🔍 Spotlight on Wanslea’s Cultural Advisory Committee 🔍 Today marks the end of NAIDOC Week 🖤💛❤, and we have been reflecting on our actions and achievements within our RAP. A key action was establishing the Wanslea Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Advisory Committee in 2023. This essential group, made up of Elders and external stakeholders with deep expertise and lived experience, is pivotal in guiding our strategic frameworks to ensure we remain a culturally safe and responsive organisation. Chaired by our CEO, the committee addresses internal issues while contributing to key service delivery areas: ~ Early Childhood ~ Disability ~ Out of Home Care ~ Community Services ~ Child Protection and Family Support Their insights are invaluable in supporting both our families and staff.
