A groundbreaking study has just been published, revealing that microplastic pollution has reached every corner of the globe — from the depths of the oceans to the top of Mount Everest, and even in our own bodies. The study warns of the high risk of irreversible environmental damage if we don’t take immediate global action. At Washbox Global, we’re taking this issue seriously. Our innovative technology eliminates millions of microplastics from entering waterways by filtering out harmful solids and liquid waste that would otherwise contaminate ecosystems💧 With the amount of plastic in our oceans increasing by 50% in the last 20 years, there’s no time for excuses. As highlighted by leading scientists, microplastics are persistent, impossible to remove, and cause harm to wildlife, humans, and the environment. We asked AI to imagine a beautiful beach scene ruined by construction tools, concrete slurry, and dirty water pooling where the waves should be. The result was, admittedly, a bit overdramatic — but the message is clear. 🌍❌ Construction waste can cause serious harm to our oceans, leading to polluted waters and damaged ecosystems. At Washbox Global, we’re committed to keeping that waste out of our waterways. Our innovative technology captures harmful construction wash waste — from liquid to solid — ensuring it never reaches our oceans. 💧🚫 By eliminating these pollutants and microplastics, we’re helping protect the beauty and health of our oceans for future generations.

Introducing our finalists for the 2024 St Andrews Prize for the Environment. Washbox Global Transforming construction site behaviour Washbox Global is a company that is addressing the pervasive issue of pollution generated by construction activities and aims to promote a greener, more sustainable future for the construction industry and communities worldwide. Through its innovative Washbox – a closed-loop multitrade wash station – it seeks to eliminate liquid waste pollution, conserve water resources, and enhance productivity in the construction sector. Traditionally, construction sites have directed trades to wash their tools using drinking water, leading to the contamination of water resources with construction materials and pollutants, such as paint, plaster, PFAs, dyes, and microplastics. This practice not only wastes precious clean water, but also leads to untreated wastewater being discharged into sewers, ultimately reaching water bodies. The Washbox continuously recycles water used for tool washing and captures solids in its filter system for easy disposal, eliminating the environmental impact of liquid waste pollution and conserving clean water resources. Its data logging capabilities provide valuable insights into water usage, waste generation, and environmental impact, empowering construction teams to make informed decisions and optimise resource management. Washbox has been deployed on more than 450 construction and fitout projects globally, preventing the discharge of 20 million litres of polluted wastewater into sewer and safely capturing more than 1,440 tonnes of construction solids. It is contributing to cleaner waterways and healthier ecosystems, while leading the way towards a more sustainable and environmentally responsible construction industry.
