Many years ago a man called Garry Watts started a business called Watts McCray Lawyers in the bad old days of the Western Suburbs of Sydney; I don't know what his experience was starting out in the world of business and deciding that the way to make his way out in the legal world was to rely on his own brain and his own skills to generate a living. This man later became His Honour, Justice Watts a respected jurist in the world of Family Law and he wrote many of the precedent cases we rely on today to advise clients. This is an achievement that few people in our community ever get to reach and you wonder whether back in the starting days of his business, His Honour saw the future of his business bringing him to the pinnacle of his legal career; He was joined by many, many brilliant lawyers along the way who took up the banner of that firm that morphed into a power house of law including Professor Patrick Parkinson, Justin Dowd, Barry Frakes and many others, including current judges of the FCFCOA. It all started with a small dream to have a practice that would generate an income and today it is part of Australian Family Lawyers a publicly listed commercial enterprise that brought the world of private investment into the world of law and is now headed by a kind, good and tenacious man by the name of Chris McFadden.
