The chance to overturn Australia’s unscientific ban on nuclear power has never been closer. Politicians have been meeting in parliament for a historic inquiry into nuclear energy. If the inquiry follows the facts, abundant low-carbon electricity from nuclear could be powering our cities in just a matter of years. But this has made anti-nuclear activists scared. Realising their game might finally be up, they’re flooding social media and mainstream media with misinformation to try and distort the democratic outcome of the inquiry. But misinformation can be fought. The facts on nuclear are settled. It’s clean, its safe and it’s 100% necessary if we’re going to reach an energy secure future. If hundreds of us email the committee running the inquiry with these facts today, then we can drown out the misinformation and ensure the inquiry gets the message. Act now - https://lnkd.in/gU69KSfG

Yesterday, Roderick Campbell from The Australia Institute told the inquiry into nuclear that they don’t consider nuclear to be clean energy. This is despite numerous lifecycle studies—which examine the mining, manufacture, operation, decommissioning, and waste management of various energy sources—finding that nuclear energy has the lowest environmental impact of any energy source. More details below.

Yesterday, during a nuclear inquiry hearing, Electrical Trades Union of Australia told Parliament that nuclear has higher lifecycle emissions than wind and solar and produces electricity less reliably. Let’s see what the science says. The best available evidence on lifecycle emissions shows that nuclear energy has the LOWEST lifecycle emissions. Exploring their reliability claim reveals that in Australia, solar operates at a capacity factor (actual generation versus theoretical maximum generation) of about 20–25%, while wind ranges from 25% to 45%. Nuclear energy, by comparison, can reach as high as 92%. So, is the ETU deliberately misleading Parliament, or are they simply unaware of the science? John Grimes, CEO of peak renewable industry body 'smart' energy council, was also a Director of Smart voting which ran a campaign against the Coalition. Smart Voting is still authorised by the secretary of 'smart' energy council Steve Blume. Clearly there is still a strong connection between the two organisations. Smart voting have been running ai generated images designed to mislead the public about a proven source of clean, reliable energy. The 'smart' energy council has clear conflicts of interest and views that should exclude their views on nuclear from any serious consideration. More information below.

We urgently need to phase out fossil fuels and address the climate crisis. Yet Anthony Albanese and Chris Bowen are refusing to lift the ban on nuclear energy - a proven source of clean, reliable energy. Tell them to lift the ban. Sign the petition: https://lnkd.in/gWgCr2UB

RIGHT NOW, Australia’s beef industry is wreaking havoc on our environment, destroying natural habitats and endangering our unique wildlife. And guess what? McDonald’s is one of the largest beef purchasers contributing to this destruction. 😔 But here’s the good news: We can make a difference! 💪 By urging McDonald’s Australia to offer substantial plant-based menu options, we can reduce the demand for beef, help protect our wildlife, and take a huge step towards a more sustainable future. 🌱✨ Act now - Sign our petition: https://lnkd.in/geumnzkp

🚨Breaking: Google is the latest tech company to recognise the benefits of clean, around-the-clock nuclear energy. Australia may choose not to use nuclear energy, but by maintaining the ban, we are locking ourselves out of clean energy and tech industry investment. It’s time for Anthony Albanese to lift the ban. BREAKING: Kairos Power and Google have signed a Master Plant Development Agreement, creating a path to deploy a U.S. fleet of advanced nuclear power projects totaling 500 MW by 2035. The deal represents the first corporate agreement for multiple deployments of a single advanced reactor design in the United States. The innovative, multi-plant agreement will support technology development by extending Kairos Power’s iterative demonstration strategy through its first commercial deployments. “Our partnership with Google will enable Kairos Power to quickly advance down the learning curve as we drive toward cost and schedule certainty for our commercial product,” said Mike Laufer, Kairos Power CEO and co-founder. “By coming alongside in the development phase, Google is more than just a customer. They are a partner who deeply understands our innovative approach and the potential it can deliver.” Read the announcement on our website: https://lnkd.in/gmk_P4zk

🌟 ALLY OF THE MONTH 🌟 This month, we're excited to spotlight Andrea Leong, the president of WePlanet Australia and the Australian Fusion Party, fighting to overturn Australia’s ban on nuclear energy. Leong takes a human and nature-based approach to energy and conservation issues. As a previous candidate for Parliament and as the president of the Fusion Party, Leong pushed to include nuclear in energy discussions. Read on for a deeper look into Leong’s work as a nuclear advocate, biologist, and politician, and why she believes nuclear energy is an essential technology for decarbonizing the grid and maintaining high living standards. #nuclearenergy #australia https://lnkd.in/gw4kt-CZ
