In May, we embarked on a joint venture partnership with the Far West Coast Aboriginal Corporation to complete the Jacinth Ambrosia Aerodrome and Haul Road projects, an ongoing commitment to the repair and resealing of a vital piece of mining infrastructure in the state's Far West. Pictured are some of the team (from both WCBIT and FWCAC) showing off the work shirts that we had specially made by the team at ACE Merch & Apparel for this venture. The beautiful artwork on these shirts, titled "Two Tribes," was created by Preston Warren from Painted Studios. A descendant of the Dieri and Wirangu nations, the original custodians of the northern regions of South Australia, This piece speaks to Preston’s connection to Country, illustrating the coming together of the Dieri & Wirangu nations through the natural landscapes of rivers, lakes, deserts, and tribal land boundaries. We selected this artwork as we felt it best represents the collaboration between our "two tribes" and our commitment to inclusion and diversity. We look forward to continuing to build strong partnerships and honouring the rich cultural heritage of the lands on which we work #WestCoastBitumen #FarWestCoastAboriginalCorporation #JacinthAmbrosia #TwoTribes #Inclusion #Diversity #Community

Last week, as part of National Road Safety Week, Roads Australia released its new Road Safety Industry Guidelines, that have been established in collaboration with industry leaders. Austroads Data published in 2022 shows that over a 10 year period, there were 18 fatal worksite crashes, and 253 serious injury crashes recorded Annualy - these figures are scary, and More needs to be done to keep our workers safe on the roads. At West Coast Bitumen we applaud the Road Worker Safety Working Group (RWSWG) for their work, and we are committed to doing more than just the bare minimum to keep our guys safe while they’re at work. We look forward to seeing the widespread adoption of these guidelines across industry. #roadworkers #bitumen #safetyatwork
National Road Safety Week highlights the impact of road trauma and ways to reduce it. For Roads Australia and our Road Worker Safety Working Group, protecting frontline workers from road trauma is a key priority. We have seen an unacceptable rise in the number of incidents, serious injuries and fatalities impacting road workers, signalling a need to continually improve the safety of road workers as well as the public travelling through work zones. In releasing our Road Worker Safety Industry Guideline, the road transport sector has come together to challenge the current standard of practice and support and prioritise a vision zero future for the road worker industry. We know more of our members and partners are looking to step up and encourage them to sign on and show their support by signing up to our Safer Workzone Commitment.
