Nearly a third of women feel their lack of visibility in the workplace is stopping them from getting promoted, new research has found. A recent survey conducted by Women’s Agenda in partnership with Cultivate Sponsorship set out to uncover how women are being supported in their career progression, and the factors that are limiting progression and promotion at work. We heard from more than 500 women at various career stages – from management positions to junior roles – about promotion hurdles, sponsorship and mentorship, career planning and more.

About us
Women's Agenda is a publication for career-minded, time-poor women who want to stay ahead of the conversation. Our team of coffee-loving, media junkies enjoy nothing more than waking up early to make your business day better. We determine the day's agenda before most people hit snooze on their smart phones, so you can get informed and productive. Our morning update features an edit of the day's key issues - a quick conversational scan to help you prepare for any elevator ride - as well as our latest views on making careers, work and business better for women. We're an independent publication first launched by Private Media in 2012 and acquired by its founding editor Angela Priestley in 2016. Our business survives off advertising, sponsors, and by helping organisations with content strategy and marketing, especially those looking to engage women. After publishing more than 1000 newsletters, 7000 stories and managing dozens of events, we intimately understand the needs and desires of career-minded, time-poor women. Indeed, we are such women ourselves! We're busy and sleep deprived but seriously passionate about what we do. We also all work flexibly, managing priorities ranging from kids, to travel, to writing books and building businesses. Get in touch with us at admin@womensagenda.com.au

We had just come from an inspiring, beautiful evening – the Women’s Agenda Leadership Awards. But then, three intoxicated men chose to disturb and harass a group of women at the hotel bar. Human rights lawyer and our wonderful keynote speaker, Jennifer Robinson shares what happened and why these men's actions are a sad reminder of the state of men's violence against women in this country. ⤵️
A night of celebrating women's achievements ended with men's violence. Who's surprised?

When we feel lonely, many of us have a tendency to believe we’re the only one experiencing it. “If I really want to go out on a Saturday night and I’m at home alone, I’m likely imagining that every other person in the world is out having a good time,” human connection scientist Dr Ali Walker tells Women’s Agenda. In reality, that couldn’t be further from the truth. According to the latest Medibank Loneliness Population Index, more than half of Australians say they feel lonely in a typical week. This is one of the key reasons that challenge the stigma associated with loneliness in Australia is key to helping people feel less shame around the experience.
More than half of Australians feel lonely. We need to smash the stigma and normalise it.

Dr Cle-Anne Gabriel submitted a PHD thesis and wrote two books by the time her son was seven years old, but there’s something she wants you to know. Despite what it may look like from the outside looking in, she does not “have it all”. And it definitely has not been easy! Juggling motherhood with ambitious goals has come with sleepless nights, client meetings in the car during school pick-up, “mum guilt” and missed deadlines. “Sometimes I can tie things up neatly, other times it is messy. Sometimes, I hit the mark, other times I learn through failure.” In this keynote, Dr Gabriel discusses why more successful women should be open about the sacrifices it's taken to get to where they are. She also shares why she schedules everything including time for rest. Find more insights with our Keynotes App: https://lnkd.in/gzPFbaPF #success #business #womenleaders
