Before we all get carried away with the myths of wasteful DEI 'hiring initiatives,' let’s just take a big deep breath, writes Kit McMahon. As an Australian, you will most certainly have benefited from equality, diversity and inclusion work at some point. It’s a skill and a profession that has been growing for years, but has its roots deeply in all our communities. #diversity #equity #inclusion #DEI

News and views for career-minded women.
About us
Women's Agenda is a publication for career-minded, time-poor women who want to stay ahead of the conversation. Our team of coffee-loving, media junkies enjoy nothing more than waking up early to make your business day better. We determine the day's agenda before most people hit snooze on their smart phones, so you can get informed and productive. Our morning update features an edit of the day's key issues - a quick conversational scan to help you prepare for any elevator ride - as well as our latest views on making careers, work and business better for women. We're an independent publication first launched by Private Media in 2012 and acquired by its founding editor Angela Priestley in 2016. Our business survives off advertising, sponsors, and by helping organisations with content strategy and marketing, especially those looking to engage women. After publishing more than 1000 newsletters, 7000 stories and managing dozens of events, we intimately understand the needs and desires of career-minded, time-poor women. Indeed, we are such women ourselves! We're busy and sleep deprived but seriously passionate about what we do. We also all work flexibly, managing priorities ranging from kids, to travel, to writing books and building businesses. Get in touch with us at admin@womensagenda.com.au

It was disturbing viewing. Not because of what Bianca Censori revealed, but rather because of Kanye West’s behaviour on the red carpet. We can’t assume Censori is being pressured by West. But nor can we assume this is an equal relationship and that Censori is comfortable, writes Angela Priestley. #BiancaCensori #KanyeWest #Grammys

Sam Kerr has revealed more details about the night in London that led to her being charged with racially aggravated harassment of a police officer. Standing in court for the first time, she says she was “terrified for her life” when a taxi driver refused to stop and let her and her partner out. “Kristie asked him to stop the car but there was no change to his driving,” she said. “We had no idea where we were": https://lnkd.in/gsHY-TTs

A lack of visibility and unclear career options in the workplace are two of the key factors holding women back from their next promotion. To unlock career advancement for women and minorities, address hidden barriers and build more equitable workplaces, organisations can put in place sponsorship initiatives. Cultivate Sponsorship

If there’s one thing we know about the state of startups in Australia, it’s that despite some incredible innovation, there isn’t much funding being directed at all-female teams. Today, we want to flip the script on this and take a closer look at some of the leading Aussie startups with women co-founders and the funding rounds they achieved in 2024 .

Living with Stage 4 endometriosis has been one of the hardest things I have ever faced and my biggest challenge in 2024. It has been more difficult, in some ways, than cancer itself, writes Dr Shabnam Gujadhur. The daily struggle of waking up to an unpredictable body, wracked with pain and uncertainty, has tested every ounce of my strength. #endometriosis #ovariancancer #womenshealth

As school returns for the year, parents are increasingly worried about their children’s health as parts of the country swelter through extreme heat. Kelly O'Shanassy, CEO of the Australian Conservation Foundation, says new research shows that extreme heat is reshaping childhood experiences and family life. “Unnatural disasters are forcing families to stay indoors or cancel plans to stay safe. As extreme heat events intensify, so do the calls for urgent action."
