🚨 At least 1 in 3 scenes depicts sexual violence against women, according to a 2020 study. Children are being exposed to it at increasingly younger ages, and it's contributing to our boys having negative attitudes towards girls. However, it is not their fault. The blame lies squarely with the producers, those who make it accessible, and their parents/guardians who fail to protect them from it.
💡 We need a collective effort from parents, schools, the community and the government to tackle the scourge of pornography.
💡 Parents need to educate their kids and monitor and restrict what their kids can access.
💡 Schools and the community also need to educate and create a culture where porn is viewed as the obscenity it is.
💡 The Government should be bringing in heavy penalties to websites and hosts that make pornography easily accessible.
⚠️ This is not just a moral issue, it's a safety issue. The porn industry makes billions of dollars from the abuse and exploitation of primarily women and children every year. We might not be able to get rid of porn altogether but our society should be one that condemns it rather than normalises it.
