This year, World Water Day is dedicated to highlighting the importance of glacier preservation.    Did you know that mapping glaciers is a critical component of geo hazard mapping? Receding glaciers increase the likelihood of slope failures, which can lead to tsunamis. In 2020, Woolpert surveyed the vicinity of Barry Glacier with reports of an imminent slope failure putting the city of Whittier, Alaska at risk. This survey supported the development of a critical tsunami inundation model and coastal resilience planning for local and regional stakeholders.     #WorldWaterDay #UNWater #glaciers #glacierpreservation #survey #water

Everyone has a role to play to #AccelerateAction toward gender equality.  This International Women’s Day, Woolpert were delighted to join industry peers across Australia, contributing to important discussions to drive progress, inclusivity and diversity within the geospatial industry.  Hosted by the Geospatial Council of Australia, the breakfast sessions facilitated inclusive conversation addressing key challenges and barriers faced by women within the industry, while also highlighting the incredible contributions by the women who are shaping the future of geospatial technology.  Woolpert Geospatial Analyst and RMIT University student Alexandra Wong delivered the opening address and moderated the sold-out Melbourne event, being the first university student to do so.
