  • This is the graph that should put to bed the myth that all older Aussies are cashed-up retirees. In the latest edition of YourLifeChoices Retirement Affordability Index, Matt Grudnoff from The Australia Institute uses this chart to show that the impact of inflation on retirees is creating a big divide between the haves and have nots. On the left the constrained tribes are those who rent and receive the age pension and how they've been impacted by inflation since 2021. The affluent tribes on the right are older homeowners with a private income. And the constrained tribes around the CPI are homeowners who receive the age pension. Those three percentage points make a massive difference to outgoings. And as Matt Grudnoff points out, the chief drivers of inflation in the past quarter have been housing, groceries and transport. In other words, the essentials just to live. Read more on this quarter's Retirement Affordability Index 👇 https://lnkd.in/gPSJY9Fs
