  • To all the amazing Educators out there, we see the hard work and passion you bring to the classroom every day. And as Term 4 kicks off, we know the pressures of teaching can add up fast! Our Personal Leadership Program is not just for students, many of the same tools can apply to YOU too! So here are some tips and tricks from our Personal Leadership Program tools to keep you motivated. The Youth Opportunities trainers will be doing the same, so join us and invest in your wellbeing! We wish you a wonderful Term 4! 🌟

  • What affirmations do you use to uplift yourself? Embedding more positive self-talk into our daily routines helps to rewire our brains to think more positively. A student from our Personal Leadership Program reflects, "The strategy that I learned was affirmations. When times get tough I tell myself 'I'll be ok' and all good things take time." Together, let's break stereotypes, raise awareness, and ensure every young person feels supported in their journey to become personal leaders. #MentalHealth #October

  • At Youth Opportunities, Mental Health Matters. This October, in line with National Safe Work Month, we're not just focused on supporting the mental health of the young people we work with—but we’re also committed to ensuring our own team thrives in a mentally healthy workplace. 💙 As part of our efforts, we have launched a 31-Day Mental & Psychosocial Health Workplace Challenge! 🧠✨ We know how important it is for our team to feel supported, valued, and empowered in a positive work environment—because when we take care of ourselves, we’re able to give our best to the students and communities we serve. This challenge is all about creating small, meaningful moments of self-care, connection, and well-being. From simple activities to more creative self-care practices, we’re encouraging our team to make mental health a priority—at work and beyond. Because a healthy, happy team is key to the success of everything we do.💪✨ Happy National #SafeWorkMonth! #NationalSafeWorkMonth #MentalHealthMatters #YouthOppsWellbeing #HealthyWorkplace #SupportAndThrive

  • Honored and thrilled to have been part of Salisbury East High School's Wellbeing Inclusion Day last Thursday, 19th September! 🌟 The energy was absolutely uplifting throughout the day with students from various year levels engaging with different organisations and activities, to improve their wellbeing and learn about inclusion in the community. At our booth, we organised target games for students, and gave away chocolates and Youth Opportunities inspired challenge cards that encouraged them to build positive habits such as: - Tell one person today why you appreciate them - Close your eyes and take a deep breath - Name 3 healthy habits you could implement that would improve your self-image Some students initially hesitated but the trainers motivated them to transform their negative self-talk into positive affirmations before taking their shot, and many of them hit the bullseye and left with smiles and rewards. Thank you, Salisbury East High School, for having us! 🎉 #Wellbeing #Inclusion #EmpoweringYouth #SalisburyEastHighSchool

  • 🎉 Yesterday, we celebrated the Term 3 graduation of the Elevate Personal Leadership Program at Reynella East College! 🎉 A total of 21 program graduates shared their journey with their family, friends, and peers reflecting on their 8-week transformative journey with Youth Opportunities. The progress and newfound confidence displayed by these young individuals were truly inspiring!   Warren Symonds, Principal at Reynella East College reflects, "We had an outstanding graduation ceremony. It's amazing to witness the growth of these young people over a short period of time. They have gone from being shy to being able to stand up in public and speak about their challenges and their future direction. The skills they have gained, will set them up to be successful in the future. I'm so proud of our students and equally proud of the opportunity that we can give to these young people to flourish." 🌟   Thanks to our awesome program sponsors, school staff and trainers for their amazing support throughout the program. Special thanks to our guests, Hon Amanda Rishworth - Minister of Social Services and MP for Kingston, NYREE LOVETT from REDARC Electronics Pty Ltd and our Chair, nick chigwidden for joining us on this momentous occasion. 💗🎉

On Day 8 of our 16-week Activate Personal Leadership Program, students attended an excursion to Treeclimb, a High Ropes course situated in the heart of Adelaide. The excursion aligns with one of our 4 Big Decisions - Decide to Grow. Students are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and confront their fear of heights.🌳🧗♀️ At Treeclimb, students have the opportunity to engage in positive risk-taking in a safe environment, where they can inspire and support each other in overcoming the various challenging obstacles. This semester, our trainers noticed an increase in positive communication among students, with many students pushing their limits and gaining new skills. Students have reported feeling more confident, resilient and have stronger bonds with their peers following the excursion. This fun day concluded with a delicious pizza lunch! 🍕 A BIG thank you to the team at TreeClimb, who consistently go that extra mile in aiding our young people to conquer their fears in a secure and confident manner! 💗
