Congratulations to our partners! 🎉 Here's a Recent Cross Border Case Study: The Context: The automotive industry in North America is a tightly integrated market, operating across three countries—Canada, the United States, and Mexico—and is governed by the USMCA trade agreement. This agreement replaced the prior NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) in 2020. Multinational OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and key suppliers often have operations in two or all three of the countries involved in the trade agreement. The Problem: An ongoing customer of the IXPA partner for the United States, MetaOps/MetaExperts, required interim resources at one of their Canadian installations. They reached out to their partner for cross-border support. The customer needed assistance with coaching and mentoring a newly promoted manager, as well as an extra pair of hands to manage a critical internal material handling improvement project. The Solution: The U.S. IXPA partner contacted their Canadian counterpart, FarStar. On the same day, a three-way call was held between the two partners and the customer to understand the needs. Within 48 hours, candidate biographies were presented to the customer. By the sixth business day, candidates were interviewed in person in Canada. The selected candidates were on-site and actively working within 10 business days. A coaching schedule for the new manager was quickly established, allowing the individual to benefit from 35 years of experience from a former executive with expertise in the specific product being manufactured. The other resource, a certified Lean Expert and Project Manager, swiftly set up the framework and action plan for the material handling project. Working with local management and the labor union, equipment was purchased, resources were scheduled and made available, and the plan was executed. Within weeks, a project that had been stalled for months was fully implemented, resulting in improved production output. Conclusion: Interim resources with expertise that closely matches customer requirements can be engaged quickly, execute efficiently, and deliver significant gains. In this case, the customer was so pleased that they requested the same resource to return for additional projects they were unable to support using internal resources alone.
