🏆 Congratulations to Samuel Cunningham and Sean Oldenburger, co0founders of Edison Collab and recipients of the Curtin Entrepreneurs Award at the 2024 Curtinnovation Awards! Post It Notes. Whiteboards. Scraps of paper. The process for capturing ideas generated in workshops is notoriously still an analogue process, causing facilitators and workshop coordinators to spend hours collating notes in order to produce post-workshop reports that accurately reflect the discussions held. Curtin Ignition alumni from Curtin Executive Education Sam and Sean, have developed an intuitive system to tackle this unique problem. By utilising AI, Edison Collab streamlines the process for workshop facilitators to capture feedback, comments, and discussion points captured during workshops and brainstorming sessions. In a matter of seconds, Edison Collab can produce slick, custom PowerPoints and reports for workshop facilitators and coordinators to share with their clients, providing them more time for completing other tasks and managing stakeholder relations. The team were successful at being shortlisted for the 2024 Plus Eight Accelerator Program and are currently working with a number of clients on the next phase of the product’s development. Congratulations to the nine teams selected for the inaugural National Energy Transition Accelerator who concluded their experience with the program last night at the Industry Demo Night. Find out more about their experience on the Resources Technology and Critical Minerals Trailblazer LinkedIn page 👇 #energytransition #decarbonisation #technology #startups
A semi-vapor electrolyser system that can produce cost-effective green hydrogen; a catalytic graphitisation technology that can produce synthetic graphite; and a mining wastewater treatment using hydrogel beads encapsulating microorganisms that remove pollutants were just some of the exciting deep tech solutions on display last night at the inaugural National Energy Transition Accelerator Demo Night held at Curtin University. Supported by Program Partner Woodside Energy, with Matthew Macfarlane as lead facilitator, the eight-week program was designed to launch early-stage Australian startups and founders with high-growth potential who are developing solutions to support the resources technology and critical minerals sectors in the global energy transition. Over the course of the program, academics and founders from Western Australia, Queensland and Victoria gained access to energy sector leaders, introductions to potential customers, and the commercial knowledge to not only validate their innovations technically but also commercially. The evening was a fantastic opportunity to introduce these exciting teams to major industry players including Woodside Energy, South32, Rio Tinto and Mitsubishi Corporation to demonstrate the potential value the teams can provide to them in their decarbonisation efforts. The teams who presented last night included: Biobead - Rachel Huang, The University of Queensland Carbophite - Mehrdad Parsa, University of Melbourne Decarbonators - Laure Braconnier, Curtin University Dryad Enterprises - Grant Major Electro Base - Sylvia Tokic Hydrobe - Nadia Leinecker, Biao Sun, Curtin University Nepternal Hydrogen - Jiayi Tang, Curtin University RapidGraphite - Jason Fogg, Curtin University Watts & Fisher - Harry W.atts Thank you to all our guests who joined us last night. We look forward to updating you on our teams' progress as we support them on the next phase of their entrepreneurial journeys. #research #decarbonisation #technology #innovation #hydrogen #graphite #mining #resources Australian Government Department of Education Anthony Millgate Jason Clare MP

Great to see our Executive Director of Commercialisation and Trailblazer Director Rohan McDougall representing Curtin University and the Trailblazer program in Canberra this week. Check out the Resources Technology and Critical Minerals Trailblazer's LinkedIn page for Rohan's thoughts on the Minerals Council of Australia's #MineralsWeek2024 Conference.
The next five years are crucial for Australia remaining a prosperous nation – geopolitical and economic shifts are increasing in severity and frequency – and strong investment in the minerals industry is critical to securing it. Earlier this week, Curtin University Trailblazer Director Rohan McDougall attended the Minerals Council of Australia's Mineral Week Conference in Canberra to contribute to key discussions instigated by the event and share how the Resources Technology and Critical Minerals Trailblazer is playing a key role in addressing these challenges. Specifically, he noted there was strong consensus from industry stakeholders that a major opportunity exists for Australia in the global energy transition by embracing our research and innovation strengths. By opening up access to the expertise and technology required, our Trailblazer program is driving the way for Australia to become a world-leading producer of the critical minerals required to build a sustainable energy future and diversify our economy. Rohan is pictured with Rebecca Tomkinson, CEO of The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia, Trailblazer Board Chair Dr Vanessa Guthrie AO, and Tania Constable, CEO of Minerals Council of Australia at the Australian Minerals Industry Parliamentary Dinner in the Great Hall of Parliament House where Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was also in attendance. #mineralsweek2024 #criticalminerals Australian Government Department of Education Anthony Millgate Jason Clare MP.
