Earlier this month, Seamless attended the Sustainable Fibres Symposium which was hosted by the ARC Research Hub for Future Fibres that's part of the Institute for Frontier Materials, Deakin University, in partnership with RMIT University and University of Technology Sydney. Danielle Kent, #Seamless General Manager, Industry Transformation presented on the urgent need for us all to collaborate together to address Australia’s clothing waste challenges, as well as the priorities for Seamless in the first 12 months as we strive to make Australian clothing circular by 2030. Thanks to Matthew Boyd and the team for hosting such an inspirational event.

A huge thank you to the Seamless team – Danielle Kent Karen Thomas and Paige Street as well as Dr. Clara Vuletich – Director Future Fashion, for taking the time to visit our Melbourne office yesterday to facilitate a Sussan Group workshop to develop our Circular design roadmap. It was an incredible immersion session into what the Seamless product stewardship scheme is aiming to achieve by 2030, and also allowed our product, design and QA teams have input into an individual roadmap for our Group around how we set goals and actions towards circular design thinking. Thanks to all of our team who participated – it was great to have you all in the session. We are really looking forward to bringing circular design thinking into our product roadmaps. Baptist World Aid Australia unveiled the tenth edition of its Ethical Fashion Report today, which assesses 120 companies covering 460 fashion and clothing brands. 35% of Seamless members are represented in the report, and their combined average score was 43% higher than the overall average score, demonstrating that #ResponsibleBrands are committed to continuous improvement. ✴️✴️ The report also calls on the Australian Government to mandate #Seamless to drive progress toward circularity in the clothing industry. If an organisation is placing clothing on the market, they are accountable for the whole life of that product. Seamless members hold themselves to account through leadership and continuous improvement, not just compliance. ⏰We’re on the road to regulation and now is the time to move quickly and step up! ✴️ See the Seamless member brands and find out how to join: https://lnkd.in/gSw6Znw3 Ainsley Simpson Danielle Kent
Our Ethical Fashion Report found that progress was slow across the industry for people and planet. But some brands really put in the work over the last two years! Here are our most improved (responsive) companies since 2022. ⬆️ Read the full Report & Guide here: https://lnkd.in/g-58xbmd

We’re so excited about the new initiative from Seamless supporter Hello Tailr which gives clothing brands of all sizes the ability to offer alterations and repairs to their customers through an integrated online platform. The online solution is easily integrated into a clothing brand’s existing ecommerce site, allowing customers to order repairs and alterations to their garments. Hello Tailr then manages the entire repair or alteration process using its network of high quality experts – 72% of which are from social enterprises Second Stitch, The Social Studio and Assembled Threads, who are empowering women from diverse backgrounds, providing job opportunities, and offering skills training with formal certifications - all while ensuring ethical wages. 🧡🧡 ✴️ Find out more at https://htailr.app/
Boosting sustainability, delighting customers, and reducing admin work all at once? Sounds far-fetched? Not anymore. Thank you to Ecommerce News Australia for the great write-up on how our new B2B platform is helping fashion brands and e-commerce stores do exactly this. Proud Seamless supporter, Vital Chemical is leveraging more than 47 years of experience in resource recovery for the civil, construction, infrastructure, resources and agricultural sectors, to create new sustainable solutions for textile waste. Last week, we were privileged to partner with the team from Rip Curl, a proud Seamless foundation member, for a circularity action workshop. 🌱 We were incredibly inspired by their genuine, long lasting commitment to protecting our oceans and nature which is being brought to life across so many impactful initiatives including: ✴️ Australia’s first take back scheme to recycle wetsuits ✴️ Achieving B Corp certification in 2022 ✴️ Rip Curl Planet Day where all warehouse and office crew spend one day per year rehabilitating their local natural environment ✴️ A partnership with AirStep which ensures that 50% of wetsuit offcut waste is turned into carpet underlay ✴️ An innovative wetsuit rental pilot And so many more! We were also energised to hear about their ongoing efforts in the areas of circular design, clothing durability, innovative new sampling practices and broader industry collaboration on sustainability. We look forward to working with the Rip Curl team to support and amplify these initiatives to the Australian clothing sector and beyond. #Seamless #SustainableClothing #CircularEconomy #ResponsibleBrands Ainsley Simpson Danielle Kent Karen Thomas

We’re a proud supporter of World Circular Textiles Day 2024 which takes place every year on 8 October to celebrate the efforts of responsible organisations and individuals actively working towards a circular textiles future. 🦋🪴 Seamless is honoured to be standing with over 300 registered members and supporters including clothing brands, retailers and innovators from across the clothing value chain working towards a sustainable future for Australia’s clothing industry. While this support from early leaders calls for celebration, we know there’s still much more to do for Australia’s people and nature. Sustainability is the only possible pathway forward for our sector, and we can only do it if we all join forces to do better. 🧡 ✴️If your organisation is a clothing brand, or operating across the clothing value chain in Australia, sign up to be a Seamless member or supporter today: https://lnkd.in/gqNHZDzz #Seamless #SustainableClothing #CircularEconomy #ResponsibleBrands Ainsley Simpson Danielle Kent Karen Thomas
