Preparing youth to lead with courage, compassion, and competence.
আমাদের সম্পর্কে
The challenges that confront Bangladesh today are immense, complex, and disparate. We are threatened by the onslaught of infectious diseases, environmental degradation, violent partisan politics, rising youth unemployment, as well as widening and deepening socio-economic inequalities. We believe that the effectiveness of our response to these challenges depends on the quality of our leadership. We believe that leadership can be exercised by anyone, regardless of socio-economic status or age. This is especially relevant for Bangladesh because 52% of our population is below the age of 25. Our goal is to equip young women and men with skills and connect them to jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities so that they can make meaningful contributions to the private, public, and civil sectors. A cornerstone of our approach involves uniting youth from diverse socio-economic and educational backgrounds because effective leadership requires the capacity to embrace diversity and pluralism. And through this process of empowering youth to act on behalf of issues they care about deeply, we aim to strengthen prosperity, justice, and inclusiveness in society.

The BYLC team is thrilled to congratulate our founder and executive chairperson, Ejaj Ahmad, who proudly represented Bangladesh by carrying the national flag today at the Parade of Nations for the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon, one of the world’s major marathons. This Sunday, he will join 53,000 runners from across the globe in this iconic race through the streets of New York City. When asked about his introduction, Mr. Ahmad reflected on his 15-year journey teaching leadership to youth. He shared that competent leadership requires a blend of skills and abilities, yet at its core lies a foundation of good health. Passionate about inspiring young people to prioritize their well-being, he believes that nurturing both physical and mental fitness is essential for effective leadership. For the past several years, BYLC has been organizing Running with Purpose in Bangladesh to promote an active lifestyle among youth and emphasize fitness as a cornerstone of effective leadership.

TikTok, Global Youth Leadership Center (GYLC), and Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC) are joining forces to tackle climate misinformation and empower Bangladeshi youth in the fight against climate change. As we prepare for COP29 Azerbaijan next month, this initiative continues to drive critical conversations for youth on climate education and action. At a panel in Chattogram held on October 25, 2024, speakers shared powerful insights: Dr. Shital Kumar Nath, Project Director of the Community Development Centre (CODEC), highlighted the complexity misinformation brings to climate discourse, saying, "Misinformation regarding climate change complicates the conversation on this important issue. It is essential to understand relevant policies, legislation, and government initiatives aimed at mitigating its impact." Absar Mahfuz, Assistant Editor of Daily Purbakone and General Secretary of the Environment and Human Rights Movement, emphasized collective responsibility, stating, "Different awareness campaigns and educational activities from multiple stakeholders are necessary to raise citizen awareness, and it has to be a collective effort. We can influence people to become climate literate and act accordingly to tackle misinformation." Afra Nawar Rahman, Youth Coordinator at Young Power in Social Action (YPSA), underscored the urgency of youth education, urging, "It's crucial to educate our youth about climate change and to have youth-based platforms take timely actions to combat misinformation surrounding it." Mohammad Habibullah Tamim, Regional Manager at BYLC, stressed the need for unity in addressing climate challenges: "Addressing the risks of climate change is not something that can be done by just one or a few organizations. We need to work together at individual, social, and national levels." Through this collaboration, TikTok, GYLC, and BYLC are dedicated to raising awareness and equipping Bangladeshi youth with the knowledge and skills needed to address climate change effectively. #fightingclimatemisinformation

Driven by the power of its youth, Bangladesh has entered a new chapter in its history. During these times of change, young people are increasingly concerned about their socio-economic and political context, especially regarding their well-being and the peace and prosperity of the country. Understanding the importance of addressing these concerns, BYLC is launching the Youth Matters Survey 2024. As a young individual, we invite you to participate in this survey and share your opinions to help shape Bangladesh's future policies. Your opinions will be featured in the upcoming National Policy Camp organized by BYLC. Form link: https://shorturl.at/BsY7P
