High energy prices remain a major challenge for industry in Europe, but American companies play a vital role in supporting Europe’s energy resilience - and are ready to step up further.   Thank you Commissioner Dan Jørgensen for meeting our Chair Liam Benham and me today to discuss how we can strengthen the transatlantic energy partnership and the important role of the EU’s regulatory simplification agenda in that context. One of the many critical linkages between the EU and U.S. is on energy. The recent American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union (AmCham EU) 2025 Transatlantic Economy study shows US share of Europe's LNG supplies reaching 48%; Europe's share of US LNG global exports hitting 55%. High and volatile energy prices are a significant competitiveness challenge for industry in Europe, particularly in energy-intensive sectors. Therefore, it was good to join Malte Lohan today to meet with EU Commissioner for Energy and Housing, Dan Jorgensen. A good discussion on these issues and more and we look forward to working with the Commissioner on a stronger Transatlantic energy partnership and more competitive EU.

Bilateral US-EU flows in R&D investments are the most intense between any two regions in the world. US companies spend some $23 billion per year on R&D in the EU.
