How honest is the Honest Bank? When financial advisors get paid to sell greenwashed and poorly performing products, consumers and the climate lose out. This begs the question: who really decides how you invest your money? You or your bank? It's time for EU legislators to make sure people's money is invested where they want, and not where's best for the finance industry. We represent 44 independent national consumer organisations in Brussels and defend the interests of European consumers.
About us
The European Consumer Organisation (BEUC) is the umbrella group in Brussels for 44 independent consumer organisations. Our main role is to represent them to the EU institutions and defend the interests of European consumers. Our daily work involves making sure the EU takes policy decisions that improve the lives of consumers. This covers a range of topics including competition, consumer rights, digital rights, energy, redress and enforcement, financial services, food, health, safety, sustainability and trade policy. Our acronym originates from our French name, ‘Bureau Européen des Unions de Consommateurs’. We were founded in 1962 by consumer groups from six Member States of, what was then, the European Economic Community (EEC). Nowadays our members are from 26 EU Member States as well as Iceland, North Macedonia, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

"I am as much a consumer as my non-deaf colleague, not a second-class citizen. I should benefit from the same service." Our BEUC colleague, Claire Cambier, shares her experience when it came to the (lack of) accessibility in financial services.
How do you call to cancel your credit card if you're deaf?

We summarise in this new paper how we believe Apple, Meta, Alphabet/Google, Amazon, ByteDance & Microsoft are not complying with the most important, consumer-facing parts of the #DMA. Not good enough, BigTech. https://lnkd.in/ejjinKuG

After months-long of both intense and constructive talks, the EU Strategic Dialogue for the future of Agriculture reached a consensus which is promising for consumers. Let's make the healthy and sustainable choice the easy one! We are honoured to have been part of the process. The consensus that emerged from this diverse group of stakeholders, beyond polarization, brings unique legitimacy to our recommendations. We count on Ms Ursula von der Leyen to integrate them in her upcoming Vision for Agriculture and Food. Our full reaction: https://lnkd.in/eyejvEfn

The #DMA is a crucial law to give consumers more choice in digital markets. Yet we have found many examples of possible non-compliance by Big Tech, inc. Apple, Google & Meta 😒 We outline these in our new paper & call on the @EU_Commission to investigate. https://lnkd.in/ejjinKuG
